Here are a few pictures of an upper that I just got. Thanks to L.A.R. Who donated this upper as a prize at an N.R.A. match.
It has a billet upper, with an 18" stainless barrel, and a YHM FF hanguard. The neat thing is that there is a cocking handle instead of a charging handle. The handle screws into the side of the bolt carrier. This is nice on a scoped gun, because there is no interference between the scope and the charging handle. In the space for the charging handle is a screw. The screw has a piece of rubber sticking out of the bottom. This piece of rubber presses against the lower receiver, kind of a reverse "accu-wedge." The good thing is that no gas hits you in the face. This might be a good set up for a suppressed gun. I put on a Bushnell 6500, in Burris XTR rings. I wasn't crazy about putting the front ring on the forearm, but it's the only way I could get enough eye relief. I can't see how it would move anyway. If I have any touble, I'll get a cantelever mount. I zeroed it yesterday with some Remington 55g, and it shot pretty good. I'll post an update later, when I get a chance to try out some other ammo.
