Night Vision L3 Insight LWTS?

I have been researching the Nvision Halo LR and was getting close to purchase when I found a LWTS clip on at a very good price. I know one is a clip-on and the other is a dedicated sight but I’m wondering what you would do if you had a chance to buy the LWTS for about the same price. I have about 180 acres of mountain property that has numerous predators.

The Halo is going to give you a better image and id on animals. The lwts is going to have a MUCH wider fov.

Majority of shots 150yds+ I'd go Halo-lr.

Interesting feedback - thanks. I know the LWTS was intended to be co-witnessed with an ACOG which would support the wider FOV comment. So, I wonder if the LWTS indexes towards Mil while the Halo leans towards Civ/hunting.

Yes the LWTS is a mil spec hardened device.

I bought the LWTS for $6K. It was a demo so like new. Having the option of clip-on or dedicated was the deciding factor over the Halo. I also figured at this price I could do ok on price if it didnt fit my use case.

Very nice. If you weren't already thinking that, you can put together a kit with a magnifier on a rail to use the clipon as a sort of slightly-clunky pocketscope. Have done, and it works.

I would have jumped on that as well. If you don't like it I'm sure you can sell it without taking a hit.

$6k for one of those is a great deal, good find. I paid $10k in 2014 and got $10k back out of it when I sold it in 2018. It really is an incredible optic.

ETA: The thermal market has changed quite a lot since then, I was not trying to insinuate you could get $10k out of one now.

I’m trying to decide what to put it on and open to input please - JP 6.5 Grendel with a Khales 5-25, JP CTR .223 with a NF ATACR 1-8, KAC/LMT 300 BO and a KAC .223 with a NF 2-10 24. Thinking of the JP .223 with the 1-8.

I think you're on the right track with that choice. They're good up to about 6x.
The NF 2-10 gives a good image as well but lacking ffp sucks. I really wish they had a detent/click in the mag ring at 5x so you could find it in the dark and the subtensions would just be doubled for holdovers.
