Re: L42A1

I think that is a beautiful piece and very desirable. Thank you for showing it.

Strange thing for me though is that when I see Brit rifles there is always something about them that just doesnt look quite right kind of industrial or unfinished. That odd feeling doesnt effect their function one iota but when I see a C stocked M1903 it looks perfect - a brit rifle - not so much.

Is it true these rifles get more accurate the farther they shoot?

Re: L42A1

On the scope, the No 32's underwent conversion to Telescope, Straight, Sighting, L1A1.

The L42 was declared obsolete April 1992.

If your looking for one look up Brain Dick at BDL LTD. He imports them from time to time.

Re: L42A1

The 3.25X L1A1 scope was set in meters for the 7.62X51 and was good for 900 to 1100 meter shots. It has repeatable range4 and windage. If you do a little research you will find some interesting history.

Sarco and others sell a REPRO mount and REPRO scope. The mount is crap, but if you have a mill or use a modern you might be Ok.

Now, the scope is a copy of the No. 32 (think No4 MkI T the 303). If you rebuild the scope you'll be good.

Go here and search the REPRO scope:

I have not handled the copies but a properly set up #32 of any mark is a joy to use. I think the copies run $450 to $600 depending on the source. An original #32 can run $1500 to $3000.
