Been offered a LaRue 223 kit, rifle, leupold scope and many extras, 200 shots fired, for what seems a decent price to me(over $4 grand invested for $2,800) but I am not familiar with this brand, feedback will be appreciated.

Re: la Rue

Excellent reputation for high quality products from scope rings/mounts/accessories as well as AR-type rifles and components. All of the Larue rifles and uppers I have shot are extremely reliable and very accurate.

If you run a search here on the forum or on BARFCOM, you'll get all the positive reviews you could ever want/need.

I don't know how outstanding a deal you are looking at without more details/specs on exactly what is included with the package. Larue uppers (not counting the value of the time you'll spend waiting on one after you order it) start around $1,200.

Re: la Rue

This is what it includes, bear with me, I am doing my best translating this from spanish to english:

La Rue upper with LW 20" barrel, 1 in 8 twist 13.2 rail
La Rue Lower with Geisselle trigger
La Rue mount with pod lock, Harris swivel & notched bipod
Leupold MK4 6.5x20-50mm with La Rue mount
Drag bag Tac Ops with built in mat
Custom ballistic cards
TIS Sling
Dewey Rod

Re: la Rue

I would say that is a fair deal as long as the rifle and all components are in good, operable condition. It would certainly cost you more than that to replicate that exact package on your own, not to mention the wait time involved.

Re: la Rue

I couldn't get my upper to shoot better than 1.5". Most people are very happy with LT uppers, some are not. I think most of the LW barrels they use are very good, but some are poor.

Re: la Rue

I own a larue 223 and one of their OBR's nice rifles and very accurate. Extremely happy so far.

deersniper: If it shot that bad with good ammo and its not you. you should give them a call, they will take care of you, "if your not happy, they arent happy." is their motto!

Yeah, they are stand up people, I'm getting a refund.

Re: la Rue

Yes wait time was a pain and definitely was worth it this rifle is amazing and this baby is new not (in good condition new) its brand new and i treat her like a baby and as for the drag bag we are talking high 300. Many GAP rifle owners where a little impress what this rifle was doing at 600 yds with 25mph fv winds.

it is a good deal...but that is a lot of scope for that rifle. The first thing I will do is sell the scope and get something more in line with a 223. Oh, keep the scope mount. You could sell the scope for close to 1K. IMHO

Re: la Rue

I like my Larue guns (1 AR15 1 OBR) pretty accurate, and say what you want about Mark, if something breaks they fix it.

I have an 8x-32x on mine..yeah thats a bit much, second one I bought (for my remington) is 5-22.

Re: la Rue

Their gear is top notch. I have spent more in their shop than I spend almost anywhere else. I am on Mark's Christmas list. He sends out bottle openers, t shirts, etc for Christmas. Every order will have free swag in it. T Shirt, bottle openers, bumper stickers, etc. Dillo Dust is bad ass(It is a dry meat rub)
Their warranty is bulletproof on their gear. After 30 days, on anything Mark didn't make, you meed to go through equipment warranty(ie Leupold, etc) but Mark will help you with everything if you need him to.
