I have ran many ladder tests with the lab radar it has worked extremely well for me. Lately I’ve been noticing that the first shot is always 30-60 feet slower than the rest. Has anybody else experienced this or am I just a dipshit that doesn’t have it set up right.

Have you noticed this over several rifles/barrels or just one gun? I sometimes have a low MV for my first shot but it’s consistent. Specially with my 6.5 gas gun it’s going to be 30 slower first round than back to normal.

Definitely not the suppressor.

Question: Is your first shot that clocks slow out of a barrel that you just cleaned?

No it was the first shot on every new series. I did a ladder of 5 charge weights and every series was the same . First shot is slow. It’s strange I’m going to run it on a couple other rifles to rule out this one.

Just wondering. 1st shots out of a freshly cleaned barrel are always slow.
Sometimes 60 -70fps slow depending on barrel and cartridge.

If you figure it out, update with the culprit.

Yeah, my first shot on a clean barrel is almost always slow. Curious to hear what the issue is here, my LR doesn't do this.

Yah plan is to run it against the magneto speed and with and without suppressor, different rifle I’m hoping it’s just a fluke. this things never been a problem. I’m waiting for a response from LabRadar also.

Ah I read your previous post that you meant the first shot taken, period. If it’s the first shot string after string with a “warm” gun, that is peculiar. Yeah definitely interested in your findings.

Sorry for the delay.. I do not have an explanation for the cause of what was going on it seems to have fixed itself. The only thing I changed was the bullet weight in the system to what I was shooting. Put the magneto speed on and they were within 5 feet of each other so I’m at a loss for what was going on. But all good now thanks for everyone’s input..

I just looked at some of my data from a few weeks ago. My first shot of the day was approximately 50 FPS slower than the rest of the shots. I attributed it to a clean and cold bore. The rest of my shots were all very similar for the string.

How many shots per charge weight?
How long between strings/shots?
How does does it do if you switch to an OCW test?
I had 5 per weight that day and 10 or so minutes between. The first shot was the issue and it seems to not be one anymore. I guess like I said was the only thing I changed was the bullet weight and I don’t see how that would affect anything as far as velocity.
