large rifle primers

Re: large rifle primers

LR primers may not have enough oomf to light off the powder effectively. You can get a delay fire, where there is a noticable delay between when you pull the trigger and the round ignites. There can also be large diffrences in velocity and accuracy. Especially in .338 LM.

Right on. I have used regular LR primers in 300 win mag, but I don't recommend for the 338 LM.

Not necessarily. He isn't asking for primers, he is asking about them. He registered a month after you did. Maybe he has just been doing a bunch of reading instead of posting.

To the OP; a location may help point you in the right direction.

Re: large rifle primers

i ran into this a few weeks ago and loaded 7mm rem mag with standard lrp. it was like a hang fire on a muzzleloader it took just a spit second for the round to go off after the primer. needless to say i had to pull some bullets

They're called 'magnum' primers for a reason.

I load the 338LM and I wouldn't think of using standard LR primers. You're spending too much money on everything to short change yourself.

Keep looking and shoot something else, until you find the right primers.
