Largest Short action Round?

Yeah I found somewhere (on here somewhere) that said that you could go with the 7mm wsm but it was not ideal so I think the biggest I may go is the 7 mm SAUM, now do you know what kind of problems or why it’s not Ideal To do the WSM

"The definition of "ideal" is subjective. If you want to use 195 Bergers in the 7mm WSM then it's going to jump a ways to the lands in a full-length SA magazine (~2.980"). If you're trying to vaporise coyotes then you might not be able to seat out a 100gr Sierra to the lands and still have it in the neck on a factory throat.

I think you'll have the same issue as the WSM with an RSAUM using heavy, streamlined projectiles from a SA mag. This is why I had a 7mm WSSM wildcat reamer made. It sits somewhere in between a 7mm-08AI and a .284 Winchester in terms of velocity but has all the room you can stand in a short action magazine.

This shows the 185RDF, the 175SMK and the 180Hyb, and a one-off load of the RDFs tested at 200yds. They run about 2800fps at less than 2.800" OAL. I should try the 162 ELDs with reloader 26. Might be able to get them up to 3000fps. The old 162 Amax and Re17 would run about 2950fps.

I’m pretty set on a 7saum for my next barrel.
I stuffed a 180 ELD into a 6.3 PRC case today for a mock up as it’s the same length as 7mm SAUM and it totally looks like it would work in long AI type mags.

If I got 2800+ I’d be totally happy.
Research says that should be easy.

I currently have both a 7 SS and a 300 Sherman mag. The brass is expensive or takes some time to prep from parent cartridges but they are well thought out cartridges. The 7 SS I had built to shoot the 175 and 195 Berger Elites, the 300 Sherman will be used with 215 berger hybrid and hopefully the 245 EOL if it ever comes to market. The next new cartridge I'm looking at is the 6.5 SST, It looks great for the new 150 smks
