They have a 16” upper listed for a decent price. I’m just not sure of the quality of their stuff, their website will tell it’s the best thing ever…there’s just no info on their barrels at all.

What’s your experience with LaRue? They have a spotty reputation online, on forums, I’ve read they make accurate guns. But, I haven’t heard much about them recently.

Dont wast your money, it's just another run on cheap Ultimate Uppers rebranded as "Match Grade" Complete uppers.

It's a 16" barrel with a mid length gas system it's going to be over gassed and very crude, honestly wouldn't surprise me to hear reports of blown primers on the regular.

A 16" ARC barrel requires rifle length gas system, Craddock, Proof, CLE don't even run Mid length on their 14.5" barrels all their 16" ARC barrels are running rifle length gas for the decreased dwell time and their 14.5 have the intermediate gas system.

LaRue is the Snake Oil king!

I'd buy one, pull the barrel sell it to the inbreds on ARF.com for $300 buy a Proof SS 16" barrel which is a far superior Barrel than anything LaRue's turning out and has the proper gas length, cost you about $100 more in the end but would be a far better set-up.

Thanks, I was curious about the gas system as well.

I may just get the Odin Works upper as I was going to use their barrel and BCG. Their handguards are not my favorite though.

I want a Proof barrel but I’m trying to start out on a cheaper route.

You can get a proof SS arc barrel for $400 that's pretty reasonable

The LaRue stealth 2.0 upper and handguard are fantastic with a true free floating design his barrels are just shit though, and I'm sure the BCG is just fine. And you could use the gas block and just pick up a rifle length tube. You could also take the 16" LaRue barrel have have it cut down to a 13.5" and use it for a pistol setup.

Hard to believe Larue barrels are that bad. I just ordered a couple of there 5.56 accuracy bundles to try. We shall see if they shoot better than a 18” Wylde psa barrel!

Where? Most places I see them are 550 now.
Expert voice is $440 and if you don't qualify for that Locked Loaded has them for $442

I have been happy with the Odin Works 18" 6ARC barrel with +2 rifle gas system. I assembled my own upper using the Odin Works barrel with adjustable gas block and an Odin Works bolt. I had a spare Anderson stripped upper laying around so I used it. While the barrel was not a press fit into the receiver, it was a good slip fit and not loose.

I have to stand up for Mark on this one. I have not seen anything bad come out of his shop, and while others might have very legitimate gripes in different areas (design is one), LaRue has some very good products. I would say the large frame rifles (7.62, etc.) are some of the better gas guns in the "AR10" space. In the 5.56, he has different levels of upper receivers and rails, and has been an outlier in his zeal for 6.5 Grendel and .260 Remington over more traditional rounds, the barrels tend to be very good, for a production barrel. I think they are match grade, but I would personally like to have a different barrel, all other things being equal, but his barrels will be right there with other button broached brands.

Having said that, from all I am reading about 6 ARC, it seems to be better to start with a new design, and not just a different BCG and barrel, so there are better choices out there, but honestly, not many yet.

His product hasn't changed since 2012, do you honestly think his rifles represent what a $4,000+ rifle in today's standards should? It's 2023 thrown in some fucking Ambi Controls or something.. there are just way too many options on the market now for rifles in that price range the offer better performance and and up to date amenities.

The last two Large Frame OBR's I rebarreled required material removal from the inside of the handguard because the barrel nut was making contact inside which obviously results in the barrel not being free floating.

I can’t speak to the 6 ARC and what gas system is required and so forth but I have two of the 5.56 match uppers and they are amazing. Ridiculously accurate and super soft shooting. The receiver and forend design it great and very rigid.

Mark is kinda a douche but you can’t deny that he makes some phenomenal uppers.

I bought one of the FDE 6.5 Grendels years ago. I didn't care for the accuracy out of the barrel. Had Craddock spin up a Bartlein 18" SPR profile for it. HSM was the most accurate out of it but I haven't seen it available in a few years

My larue did shoot like ass with factory 108 Hornady, then again, every arc barrel I have had (proof, xcal, BA) has. But lever and a Berger 105 hyb shoots knots.

More proof that every barrel will be different. My Odin Works 18" barrel shoots the Hornady 108Gr ammo the best. The Hornady 103Gr and 105Gr ammo didn't do bad but still not as good as the 108Gr ammo. I haven't started reloading ay 6 ARC ammo yet.
