Looks like the promised LaRue lowers are now available to purchasers of their upper kits. I kind of want to order a 308 upper kit and lower but thinking in the end it really won't be any more than just any another AR but w/ LaRue on the lower. They don't say much about their large frame barrels but looks like they might be like their stealth profile 556 barrels. Anyone got/getting one?

So i have a 16" 308 tOBR barrel I want to sell. If you wanted to buy the kit in 6.5CM I'd be happy to swap barrels with you...

Wish I'd known that yesterday. The voices kept getting louder and I finally caved in and ordered 308 yesterday. Will be curious to compare to tOBR barrel I already have. Figure at worst I can get my money back out of it if I don't like.

Really tough decision and question.

I have a handful of LaRue rifles, but not a blind fanboy. I bought two of the build-kit small bore. For large bore, I did not see the business case. I have two LaRue 7.62's and love them.

The issue is plain and simple: The build kits are SHIT for fit and finish, but are great shooters. Some say, "that's fine." But, at the end of the day, LaRue has built its reputation on two axis's: Great, sub-MOA shooters, and nicely designed works of art. Now, I will tell you, that whatever you think of ML, I don't think he will compromise on accuracy and solid material. But, in terms of aesthetic design, his Stealth 2.0 upper i so all good... until it mates with a LaRue lower, and it you might as well buy an Anderson lower, because the upper is angular, vis-a-vis KAC, and the lower is a nice billet work of art.

Bottom line, whilst I will put up with shit on an shingle for small cailber, I am not paying premium prices on the large frame for something that nobody thought out on the design.

I bought a 6.5 UU Kit. Shoots about .5-.6 MOA, nothing to complain about for $1600 complete rifle.
I got the 18” .260 UU and lower, same price as above, still playing with loads but right now 5 shot groups are at moa. 18” rifle +2 gas, no adjustable gas block, shoots great with a can and is easy on brass. Pri gas buster CH, really nice trigger standard. Nice rifle at a great price. No complaints.

Edit: I don’t see any fit and finish problems.

ordered kit today as well. 18 inch 6.5 cm in FDE. added suppressor for 399, hard to beat the price for large frame. lower is 299 I believe, but only available if you order upper.

and I tried to add extra lower, but already received notification only one per upper. lol

I finally got my Larue 18" 6.5 C/M put together. Rail is 16.5 " Gas System looks to be Rifle + 2

The issue is plain and simple: The build kits are SHIT for fit and finish.

I cannot agree with this statement. I have a 260 and a 65 Creedmoor UU kit complete rifle, and a legacy OBR. Obviously this is subjective but to me any fitment issues are very minor, and finish is exactly the same as my OBR. If anything the UU kits are a more modern and developed design (no unnecessary 20 MOA rail, significantly longer slim handguard with many more mounting options).

If I had to pick between my legacy OBR or one of the UU kit rifles, I would choose the latter.

I just got an 18" 6.5 CM kit in for a local customer. The Tranquilo suppressor and lower will be along eventually.

I'm extremely impressed with everything I see. Based on the way my own LaRue .260 shoots, I know it's going to perform. The Cerakote work is especially nice, as good as I have ever seen done.

There's a lot of value here. I hate to admit it, but this is going to cut into my own big block gas gun custom shop business in a major way. I can source parts lighter than LaRue (2A Armament, V 7, Proof Research, JP, etc.) makes, but not better than LaRue makes.
