Alright I searched a little bit about this and found nothing so figured Id just ask.
I have a POF 308MRR but I have been unfaithful and dreaming about a Larue OBR. Does anyone have some experience and input that has actually fired both of them? The reason I ask is that I have been considering selling the POF to buy the Larue....

Re: Larue OBR vs. POF 308MRR

I have shot the POF, and own the OBR. They are both excellent rifles. I'd likely not get rid of either one to switch to the other. Both are well made and less than MOA with factory ammo.

Why you thinking of selling? Guns are for buying not selling.....

Re: Larue OBR vs. POF 308MRR

I don't know, guess I have a bad case of wanting something I don't have already and not patient enough to save up for it haha
On another note my POF is pretty damn heavy. The Larue should be lighter...maybe.a little bit

Hmm k well guess guess I need to get some patience and save up for it. Then have both. How come I don't see any threads on here about the OBR though? Being such an accurate Semi-auto I figured there would be a thread with some pics and reviews.

Re: Larue OBR vs. POF 308MRR

I think the price is a bit of a deterrence and of course, everyone likes the idea of a piston gun in that price range. And there are those who complain of the slightly taller top rail as a result of the 20MOA built in. I haven't mounted my scope yet to be able to decide how I like the 20 MOA, so can't really comment on that yet.

Re: Larue OBR vs. POF 308MRR

Let me clarify my earlier post about the preference for a piston gun- it is not MY preference... it is the general preference. I own an OBR and wouldn't trade it for any piston gun. The conventional DI gun has proven reliability and accuracy. This is NOT a DI vs piston debate. Just simply pointing out the fact that despite what is popular right now, the actual "need" to be a piston system is not there. It's much more a matter of preference. Each system have ups and downs.

Re: Larue OBR vs. POF 308MRR

DP- I am glad you clarified that!!!!

FWIW, I am working on 1500 rounds thru my OBR without cleaning it. Accuracy is still stellar and no malfunctions yet. I did strip clean and lube it after a very short break in. I still shoot a bit if lube in the bolt and on the bolt carrier before a range session. I'll report back the results as soon as it has an issue.

Not sure a piston gun is that much of an upgrade given experience so far.

Re: Larue OBR vs. POF 308MRR

I had a .223 larue and now have a .308 and .223 POF. Don't downgrade to a DI larue. POF uses Rock barrels. larue uses LW barrels.

The POF's are more accurate and alot more reliable than larue IMO.

I get 5/8 to 3/4 MOA from my OBR shooting off the Harris bipod on the bench. I get about the same from my GAP AR-308. I haven't shot a POF, but if they're doing that well, good on 'em.
