LaRue Tactical 10-22 upgrade

Mark LaRue now has a 10-22 upgrade available. A picatinny rail, low quick detach rings and a cheek pack. I kind of like it.

It is my understanding that the rail will be available soon by its self . Not sure of price though.

I was thinking the same thing about the rail by itself, but looking through the Larue site, I didn't see it yet. I would bet it will come in around the $75 mark based on a cost of the rings alone ($195), guessing $30 for the stock pack, plus a small discount for buying in a "package" deal.

Frankly, I have always had excellent service from Larue products, including the ultra-low LT-719 rings, but I don't see spending $295+S&H for that setup. First, I have no need for a QD setup on any of my .22 rifles so a $200 set of QD rings would be wasted on my rifle. Second, that stock pack doesn't look all that impressive to me.

Oh well...to each their own.

even so there are companies like tactical solutions and even EGW that make very nice rails for the 10-22's and they are both under $50 and you can get them up to 30moa built in. maybe the larue has the moa in it maybe not but either way there are much better upgrades that you can put on a 10-22 for the money spent on the larue setup. i like larue products and have plenty of them from AR's to bolt actions and they do make a very nice product but it just seems excesive to me. get a kidd trigger or a new barrel or a nice stock all of which are in the $300 price range.

just my two cents i dont want to offend anybody but i would rather spend the money on something that will help out with accuracy. there are plenty of rings that are quick detach and work just fine and repeat just as good as larue does and you dont have to worry about the recoil of a 10-22 throwing things off. you could get a really nice setup with a rail and quick detach rings and even a stock pack for $100 but it wont say larue on it

Yup, a $40 EGW and/or Burris Signautre Zees with eccentric inserts gives VERY good service. No QD, but under $100.

For all those interested, Larue has posted the picatinny rails for individual sale now:

Unfortunately, they are $49.00 (intro price) with a regular market price of $59.00. No built-in cant...just a 6" long picatinny rail.

Now for the kicker...if you add up the individual prices of all the "package deal" items (base/rail, rings and cheek pad), you get a whopping total of $279.95...but the total price if you buy the package is $295.00!!! WTF?!?!

Somebody at Larue is smoking crack or has sorely misjudged the market in this area!

I called just a moment ago(I hadn't seen this post yet) to inquire about the can't of the base, and Alfred confirmed what is posted here, 0*. I really expected it to be 20*+ as it seems silly to have a zero cant base on a .22LR. Guess I'll grab a different one then!

Luepold makes very nice QD rings about 65$, get a kidd 10/22 comes with 20 moa extended base

Actually, both the <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Kidd Supergrade Receiver</span></span> and <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Kidd Classic Receiver</span></span> have ZERO CANT (flat) rails. Thats' right, zero cant - not 20 MOA.

I had spoken to MariPat about 1.5 years ago while the Kidds' were still in development of their receivers, and MariPat confirmed that the Kidd Receivers would have flat (zero cant) picatinny rails. I asked MariPat if 20 MOA rails might be offered in the future, and MariPat replied "No". That was a real bummer for me, as the Kidd Supergrade Receiver would have been great with a threaded barrel, rear lug and canted base. Unfortunately, since the rail is integral you cannot even bolt-on a canted base. That is why I used an MOA 10/22 Receiver to build my custom threaded barrel 10/22.

After the introduction of Kidd's new rifles and release of the <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Kidd Supergrade Receiver</span></span> and <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Kidd Classic Receiver</span></span>, I called Kidd again to see if anything had changed with regard to a canted rail on their receivers. Nope - the Kidd Receivers have flat rails and Kidd will not be offering canted rail receivers in the future.

If you don't believe me, a quick call conversation with MariPat or Tony will confirm that the Kidd Receivers have flat picatinny rails. You'll have to leave a message or wait until Monday, as Kidd is closed on the weekends. Their number is (830) 557-4411.

Why in the world would you make a rail for the 10/22 and not include some cant to it?

I am sure it will be top quality, but sometimes that alone doesn't make it the correct choice.

If your scope only has say, 50 MOA of adjustment and it gets zeroed at about the middle, you've only got 25 MOA of elevation. A 20 MOA rail will let you have 45 MOA of elevation before you need to start using your reticle for holdovers.

Many people on this board are taking the .22 out to the very edge of it's practical range and a canted base is one of the tools that makes it easier.

I do agree, the set-up is a bit on the expensive side though. I'll keep my Leupold rings on my 10/22's.

This "package" is meant for the Larue cool aid drinkers out there. I love Larue products, but how can you justify this price on a 10/22? It's more than the rifle and doesn't do anything that a cheaper product can do - BUT CHEAPER!

I think Mark should start thinking about discounting his product line now that he's mass producing stuff. Otherwise, he's going to start losing customers in this economy.

On a better note, the rail itself is $50 and is currently available by itself.
