Rifle Scopes Laser rangefinder options/use questions

So I'm finally going to break down and grab up a LRF. I've been looking at the Leica LRF 1200 scan model and am pretty much set. I know the Swarovski is supposed to be the shit but it's out of my $ range.

I will be using this to shoot steel out to 1500yds. From what I've read you can use a reflective object as a target to range further out. How far can I expect to use the Leica 1200 LRF scan on a stationary target like this?

I have ranged a house at 1237 yards with my Leica 1200 scan. I think 1500 is pushing it.

I'm sure you're right. I wasn't planning to range the entire distance but rather incremental points.

Anyone know of this technique of using a reflective object next to a target to get further range our of the LRF or am I just full of shit? Can't remember where I picked that idea up.

as long as it's close to your target... if you can get a reading and add / subtract the small distance if it's not totally in line is OK.

green trees, dead tree stumps, dam walls, dry dirt etc... tend to read better than alot of things. trial and error, when you get your LRF take it out field and give it a work out, see how far it can reach consistantly.

also, make sure you have a spare battery with you... murphy's law
