for any of you aspiring gs types that are just starting out and aren't tooled up yet(and live in the south), there is a pretty good starter lathe for sale on govdeals South Bend Fourteen Engine Lathe - GovDeals.com. i used one of these in a fab shop for a number of years and although what we usually did was +/- 10 or more if you paid attention to what you were doing you could easily get it hold +/- 1. i'm not recommending this particular lathe as i have not seen it, but the price looks inviting for a start up venture. if you don't know anything about lathes yet, take someone with you to look at it that does.
