I figured it out for myself. I was able to use the method I use for Remington model 700's. The extractor is different than the extractors on older
Remingtons, which are held in place by a rivet. This Lawton has a slot milled into the right bolt lug. Which contains a small claw type extractor.
This extractor has the common small coil spring and plunger applying pressure to the rear of the extractor so it can slip over the cartridge rim
and grip the cartridge rim for extraction. When I look into this milled cavity, the extractor, and plunger tip is in clear view. Is this "normal" on Lawtons??
No kind of a cover to help keep it clean, or to prevent loss of small parts? Looking for answers from Lawton owners.
