What a POC the LC brass.
I've a once fired (by me) 02 and 03 LC brass, that once reloaded gave me 20 split necks out of 200 rounds. Talking about brass quality!

Will throw the remaining LC brass I have in the dumpster.
On a related news, the IMI brass is BY FAR the best military brass around. That $hit is stronger than the Lapua brass.

How much do the IMI Match stamped brass go for if you can find them?

Re: LC brass POC

My IMI came from a batch of IMI surplus I got from Wideners long time ago.
BTW, they're expected to have more IMI by the end of October according to their web site.

Re: LC brass POC

i have 2 batches of 03 LC brass 308 on their 7th reload and i shoot them with 42.5g RL15 so its a stout load. i also have 2 batches of 03 LC LR brass on their 5th reloading and it was once fired thru a M14 when i got it. I have lots of 99LR, 01LR, 03LR, 99 reg, 01 reg, 02 reg, 03 reg and 05 reg that were shot thru mg's and havent had a problem with them. also my 223's have some lots of nickel LC that have been reloaded 6 times, so its not the brass, are you sure its not a die problem?

Re: LC brass POC

Not a die problem, since all other 223 brass performs as expected.
This brass was not purchased in once-fired form. I shot it the first time from 02/03 surplus, and not with an M60

Interesting. I have a batch of once fired (M16) '03 LC. I wonder if the lot you have was not loaded for a reason. ???

Re: LC brass POC

Maybe I did not express myself correctly. The LC brass I'm talking about, comes from 02/03 M855 surplus I bought time ago.
It was first fired by me (with the original M855 ball), then reloaded once (by me, with SMK 69gr), then it was split-neck-galore

Re: LC brass POC

i have some 03 855 also, ill shoot some of it tomorrow and reload it to see if mine has the problem also. my 223 LC nickel batches are 01, 02 and 04 and they havent had any problems except for a few that were messed up from using my brass catcher and smokestacking. since your reloading it with a 69g, ill load mine with 24g varget and see what happens. are you using bare or moly coated?

Which would have resulted into poor lifespan of all other brass I'm using, which is not the case.

Read thread on case annealing. </div></div>
While I'm ready to concede that I hit a particularly shitty lot of LC brass, annealing or not, 100 reloads out of a .308 brass seems quite a stretch to me.

Re: LC brass POC

I have one lot of LC 77 Match I'm running with 10 firings on it. I just had my first split neck.

Needless to say I'm going to start annealing.

Super Bee, do you anneal your stuff?
