Our local gun store /indoor range offers handgun safety courses and CC classes , the few times I have seen /interacted with the women they all seem quite normal . They do tend imho to be over 40 ish and want protection . This is in NW florida my wife even took a safety course and jacked my 2.5 colt python ,she also joins me at the range but refuses to clean the pistol after shooting....says its man work she also refuses to try magnums or my SW 340 PD [ cant blame her on dat 1 ].
