Been looking at both of these and finally got a chance to get one. Mainly going to be using it for coyotes and antelope/elk out west, ranging steel as well. Looking for the most reliable and quick ranging would be a plus. Also must work in low light.

Heard awesome things about the Leupold and it's $50-100 cheaper than the Leica. I haven't heard of anything super special about Leica except that they have good glass and are reliable. Both have a 2 year warranty, so is the Leica worth spending $100 more for?

Go Leica you'll have no regrets
  • The new CRF 2400-R offers a newly designed LED display for even better readability of scanned distances. The new LED display adjusts itself automatically to the ambient light to aid precise readability.
  • Another remarkable feature is the extremely fast scan mode, which takes measurements every 0.5 seconds.
  • Up to a measuring distance of 200 yards (182 meters), the unit displays the results in decimal figures (to 0.1y), enabling even more precise distance measurement for archers.
  • The CRF 2400-R determines the equivalent horizontal range (EHR) up to a distance of 1,200 yards (1,097 meters) when required. With this feature, the unit provides the practical anglecompensated distance, which is essential for an accurate long-distance shot.
  • Thanks to its compact design it fits easily into any pocket – weighing just 6.5 ounces and is waterproof to 1m.
  • The outstanding optics with a 7x magnification ensure the best image brightness and a wide field of view.

I've got the 2800.com and an older 1600. Both have been as advertised and terrific in their applications. For the longer distances, I have the tripod adapter and tripod, of course. Be sure to include the divergence factor in your decision as being precise at distance matters.

Having played around with most out there and excluding the Terrapins, only the sig really competes with the Leica. And the Leica has the better glass.

Hit Doug at Cameraland up and I will bet the price difference will be less than you think. ;)
