Length of 26" barrel in folding stock like a Whiskey 3, MPA, etc.

Trying to decide whether a folding stock will fit into my current Pelican and other cases.... can not find measurements.

Say I have a standard 24" or 26" barrel with a lil Bastard or similar brake ~ what do these fold up to?

I hate to disassemble for shipping but I suppose that's another option but if I'm doing that then I might as well get a fixed stock.

The damn thing is that when the Pelican weighs 20# and the rifle and scope are 15#-plus once you add ammo you get to 50# airline limit quickly.

What is your current case? It’s doable in a 1720 or im3200 but you may need to remove the brake if you have a long action and 26” barrel.

Most airlines have a linear 62” oversized bag policy so thay may charge you for checking those cases anyway, although I’ve been pretty lucky. The 1700 is just under the 62” limit.

I have a savage long action 24” barrel with another couple inches of brake in a MDT chassis with XLR stock/folding adapter that will fit in a 43” case.

I ship my ammo separate to avoid any issues with weight. I’ve got a 26” barrel in a KMW Sentinel and the APA big fat bastard brake. OAL right at 48” and it fits in my pelican im3300 fine.

You may already have your answer, but, here are some dimensions:

26” barrel with 2.25” brake, short action (not sure if that matters), in a KRG W3 folder = 47.5” unfolded; 37.75” folded. I have the LOP extended about 1/2”.

The W-3 is 20" from the action face of a Rem 700SA to the buttpad with the LOP in the shortest position. There's about .750" of barrel tenon in an Rem 700SA so total length would be about 45.25" with 26" barrel. That is unfolded (shooting) position. I hope that helps!
