Description: In this course, students will become proficient shooting from positions otherwise foreign and uncomfortable to most. This will provide the ground commander an asset during any situation that cannot be matched. For a Sniper to engage a hostile target with precision while lying in the prone is unremarkable. Take that same Sniper, give him the ability to calculate his shots, predicting the travel of the bullet, and being able to do this from any position, prone, sitting, kneeling, and standing and you have an asset that couldn’t possibly be measured.
Instructors: All instructors are veterans, with the majority having earned the title “Scout Sniper" or conducted operations within a Sniper Platoon. Each instructor brings a different flavor to the table, a different skill set, a different background of Long Range Marksmanship whether it is hunting experience, or bench rest rifle competition shooting. Although each instructor is different, each one believes that perfect practice makes perfect. Every instructor’s goal is for students to leave fundamentally sound, proficient, knowledgeable, and confident in themselves and their equipment.
The Chief instructor is Tyler Hughes. Tyler is a 10 year combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He has 5 tours overseas and has served in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Tyler held billets as an Infantry Rifleman, Infantry Team Leader, Infantry Squad Leader, Infantry Platoon Sergeant, Scout Sniper, Scout Sniper Team Leader, and Scout Sniper Platoon Sergeant. His military training and expertise includes Amphibious Reconnaissance Course, Infantry Squad Leaders Course, Close Quarters Battle Security Instructor Course, Helicopter Rope Suspension Techniques Master Course, Scout Sniper Basic Course (Honor Graduate), Scout Sniper Team Leaders Course (Top Shooter Award), Urban Snipers Course, Mountain Snipers Course, and Advanced Snipers Course.
