It finally stopped raining and I got a picture of my lower field, with 3-1/2 acres of food plot. Coincidentally it is 300 yards from my shooting house to the farthest portion of the food plot. Wind flags placed in the edge of the field almost makes it seem like cheating...hehe

that is a damn fine food plot... looks like some sort of beans. i will post a pic but all of mine together are not that big.

Thanks, it is rape, chufa, seven top turnips, purple top turnips and some small mixed beans. MMM,MMM,MMM

This was my dove field a month ago. Sunflowers, millet, wheat and strips of sorghum, just cause I had some in the barn. I haven't even been able to dove hunt because of work...maybe the second season will be OK.

Have about twelve acres of various crops for the deer on our farm. Rape/Turnips for winter carry over. Few acres of clover/alfalfa. Summer crop of various beans for antler growth.

Seeded:

Add water and light:

Fresh mowed clover/chicory/alfalfa:

Kill plot of Buck Forage Oats, winter wheat and Austrian winter peas. (they kept this mowed) Oct '08 pic but it looks the same today.

If I was a deer, I'd eat it. Nice plots! I don't have any pics of ours yet but, we have 2 larger fields of about 1 acre a piece of Clover and some smaller satelite plots tucked in the timber. This year we planted a new plot of Winter wheat and turnips. Its not exactly fertile farm land where we are in Miller County Missouri. Lots of rocks and many, many broken plow tips. These plots aren't getting much attention this year however since the mast crop of acorns is plentiful and as always the persimeon trees are bearing lots of browse. There favorite when it comes down to it is probably the acorns. Happy Hunting fellas!

My clover and alfalfa plots get a shot of Arrest and Arrow for grass and broadleaf control. These applications make a real difference over time.

The rape, turnips and similar plantings go in the ground late summer when the grass and weeds are not up for competition. Plus these plantings grow fast and shade any grass/weed competition.

I had sprayed my wheat/oat fields with Roundup prior to application but concuded this was a waste of product as this is an early fall planting and it is an annual. There is more than plenty to keep the deer happy even if the grasses are in competition.

I rotate with roundup ready soybeans which keeps my fields clean. Our farm is 400 miles away so the use of chemicals makes it easier.

Come on dude it is 300 yards away, and every piece of land within 35 miles is heavily forested mountains with low deer counts or giant fields of winter wheat and mixed clover for cover crops...
