I didn't see this scope at SHOT but I have been seeing it on the forums and people are talking about it being designed to be Leupold's "Ultimate AR Scope" Anyone had any experience with it? Retail is over $4K and I found a new one on Gunbroker for what looks like a good price:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=216938972

The 1.1-8X power range seems like a good one, and I like the fact that the whole back of the scope is the adjustment knob -- no more fiddling around with the power ring.

Anyone?

Re: Leupold CQBSS Tactical Scope

From the GB ad:
"THIS SCOPE IS BADASS AND VERY HARD TO GET. ONCE THIS SCOPE HITS THE MARKET THEY WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO GET"

So <span style="font-style: italic">after</span> they come to market there'll be <span style="font-style: italic">fewer</span> of them..........Whaaaa?

P.T. Barnum was right.........

Re: Leupold CQBSS Tactical Scope

They're currently filling they're contract with the military. The price should come down after they get situated on the market. It's nice to see leupold being a litte innovative. But they're price is ridiculous for a scope with no zero stop or illumination.

In your dreams! S&B's new 1-8 Short Dot is $2500, that's $1500 cheaper than Leupold's wildly

overpriced CQBSS offering. Given the choice when spending that kind of money I think most will be spending their money on the reputation and performance of S&B, or "anything-but-Leupold".

The 1-8 power scopes were really designed for 308 OBRs not AR15s. Who in their right mind anyway is going to spend $4000 on a Leupold scope? Even if Leupold's CQBSS was priced the same as the S&B anyone who knows glass wouldn't be buying the Leupold.

Not to defend Leupold but at that price point the glass is not really a top priority. Glass is a given on something in that price range. The 4000$ price isn't worth it at all but to judge two scopes in that criteria on glass is redundant.

It's not about the glass it's about overall quality and pedigree. The S&B Short Dot could probably be considered the benchmark highend optic for CQB - and it's $1500 cheaper. While Leupold might win a few orders with our military due to our buy US policy their CQBSS scope is dead in the water at that price point or anywhere close to the $2500 S&B will be charging for their equivalent - just check some of the threads on this forum and others to get a feel for what people think of Leupold and their products. Leupold simply don't have the reputation in the market place to command the highest price (higher by some margin than the likes of Zeiss, Swaro, Premier, March etc) for a scope. It's laughable to think that someone at Leupold thinks they can.

Re: Leupold CQBSS Tactical Scope

I have heard really good things about this optic, However I heard two different stories. I heard that it has a 2nd focal plane reflex sight built in like SB and Premier and I have also heard that it doesn't. IOR is coming out with a 1-10 power that is FFP, has a great reticle, side parallax, over 30 mils of adjustment, 35mm tube. 10 power ratio is really great, I think March is the only other company that has a 10 power ratio scope not 100% on that. I think the IOR will be Low to Mid $2000. I like the concept of having the ultimate optic that is versatile like these new ones, perfect optic for shooting prairie dogs, home defense, 3 gun shoots, etc

Re: Leupold CQBSS Tactical Scope

that price is laughable at best. i mean i just don't see luppy's getting 3.5 or 4k for a scope when you have so many other high end scopes w/ proven track records and great customer support.

its a nice design and i am glad they are semi listening to their customers but the price really needs to be adjusted

Re: Leupold CQBSS Tactical Scope

With the mount, seems to be a good price at $3000. But since several brands are coming out with similar offerings, may be a good time to wait and see the rest of the field.

I agree, they're reputation even still takes a bit of a hit IMO even if the price comes down. It's beyond me how they create 3000$+ new mark 4 and 4000$ mark 8 line yet STILL haven't incorporated zero stop. And the two mark 4s don't have illumination and are still 3000+. I was just saying if they were priced the same glass wouldn't be the first thing to consider when choosing it.

Mike @ CST</div></div>

Mike any idea on how these will affect the pricing of their tactical line when they get firmly on the market? I would like to see the mark(new) 4 & 8 become the mainstream of leupold tactical so i could get a mark 4 for less than 1500$
