So I just got a Leupold Mark AR 3-9. I understand about focusing the reticule, but to be honest, at any magnification, the image (NOT THE RETICULE) seems blurry as heck. Like I just can't get a nice crisp, in-focus image. I really have to strain my eye, and even then...

Am I doing something wrong? Is there an adjustment I'm not making? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

weird. my mark 4 is crystal clear, love it. my brother has a mark AR 3-9 and it is also very bright and clear. i would call leupold.

Thanks for the responses. Yeah, it just doesn't seem "right". I just recently got into AR's but I grew up in S. Texas hunting from day 1. I've looked through a lot of scopes and as Hank Hill would say "that boy ain't right."

Re: Leupold scope seems blurry?

Frank is correct. We need to know the distance you are sighting at. The parallax is set to 150 yards on the 3-9x Mark AR. So if you are looking at a target that is only 25 yards away, the sight picture will be out of focus. It will be much less evident at 3x than at 9x, but at the least, very strenuous on your eye.

Re: Leupold scope seems blurry?

I've got a Leupold 4.5-14x50AO that has great clarity in broad daylight. It however has two problems.

The reticle battery dies after two weeks even when the rheostat is turned off. The batteries aren't cheap either.

The second problem may be related to why it is dim in low light. I was shining a flashlight into the objective lens and noticed one of the the inner lenses looks like it is cloudy and covered in dust or some kind of grime.

I hate to send it in for any repair because the AO functions perfectly (it removes all visible parallax)and at marked yardages. Also, the scope holds perfect zero.

Should I chance it?

Ohhhhhhhhhhh...?

I was sighting it in at 100 yards.....I guess that might explain it! I'll have to take it out to the range tomorrow and see how that turns out! Thanks for the info!
