Rifle Scopes Leupold VX-3CDS

Re: Leupold VX-3CDS

It's a simple solution to a complex problem: hitting a target at long range. And like most simple solutions, it's hype is greater than it's usefulness.

Learn to make a dope chart; learn how to use it; actually shoot to confirm your dope at long range; then practice shooting at LR and adjusting your dials (mil or moa) to your tested data; and then you'll realize how accurate and less than useful the CDS system really is for folks who actually try to use it, with little to experience at shooting at anything further than 300 yds or so.

But feel free to tell us your thoughts on it....

Re: Leupold VX-3CDS

I use mil, and have shot out to 500+yds. Never got into using the charts. I was taught to pick and hit. I would like more info on that though! I can mil up an antelope at 400-500 in a minute or so. When they told me they could put it on an old VX-II I didn't see how they were gonna make it work. I found that using my mil was more accurate being that I use different loads for different game. And I can find time to shoot a load before I go out. It was just interesting to me the new technology that has come out. I'm pretty old-school. I just havn't seen a thread on it yet, and figured you guys could give your opinions.
