Wasn't quite sure where to post this - integral - bolt gun/suppressor. Has anyone seen, or heard of this? How would that work with the ATF if the suppressor is an integral part of the rifle, one background check, two background checks, you have to wait months for the rifle, tax stamp? Is that the future of bolt action cans, or just a blip on the RADAR while anti-gun groups are attempting to massage public opinion into a pretzel against the second amendment. What's your take?

If you cant remove the can from the barrel (disassembly for cleaning doesnt factor in) then its included in that barrels length, it becomes integral. If that total combined length is over 16" you only need 1 stamp for the silencer part. If that combined length is less than 16" you still need a stamp for the silencer but you will also then need another stamp for the SBR (short barreled rifle) as well.

You could also weld a normal silencer onto a barrel to make it combined over 16" but then that becomes permanent to that firearm, just like an integral.

    16" barrel + silencer= 1 stamp
16" barrel including integral silencer = 1 stamp
    12"barrel+6" welded silencer is 18" overall = 1 stamp
12" barrel with removable silencer = 2 stamps: 1 silencer and 1 sbr
8" barrel plus welded 6" silencer is 14"= 2 stamps: 1 silencer and 1 sbr

Like said above. If it is “permanently” attached it’s one tax stamp.

I’m not too sure this thing tho. A 16” barrel with a 9” TBAC will finish at like 24.5-25” and be able to move from rifle to rifle. A 7” can will put you under that 24” mark of that system. I’m all about “handy rifles” but I guess I just don’t see any benefits here.

I loved cans whenever I got to shoot with one, and at one point had intentions of getting one but since the Hearing Protection Act now seems kind of out the window I guess I'll stay without a can and stamp-less; way too much bureaucracy and legalistic fine print for my taste, and too much listing and registration of gun owners and property. How a simple attachment can constitute "a firearm" is beyond me. Don't get me wrong I'm not against cans, I'm a member of the American Suppressor Association, among many other gun rights organizations but this backdoor registration is an asinine gun grab prep.
