Lilja barrel on 457 MTR?

Anyone got one?

The factory tube gets me 9-11mm groups @ 50 y.... but no better. I've tested all the major match ammos.... Eley, Lapua, RWS, FGMM, SK, Wolf, etc etc.

Well.... that's just not good enuf.

Wondering if the Lapua 455 / 457 barrel will do better in the MTR.

Maybe...with the shim kit it will allow you to set y'er headspace exactly where you want it.
With a few more tweaks it ought to put you in 5 to 7 mm territory,
if you find a good batch of ammo and a dead clam morning.

For what its worth.....you can have your factory barrel machined to the tennon specs of the lilja and then buy the shim kit from lilja. I did this with a factory barrel on a 455 and it shoots very well. Total cost was roughly $50

Anyone you trust with a lathe. The lilja barrel has a 1.200 tennon length. I set my barrel up the same way, Measured for headspace, installed the appropriate shim, and then glued the barrel in. Excellent results.
