Lilja tight bore barrel for 40X

Apparently the stars are aligned right because in the past week I've located a Rem40X bolt and also a 40XB barreled receiver. I have a trainer already but have always wanted one with the same barrel contour as my .308 (Schneider M40 overrun barrel). So now I need to figure out which barrel to go with. I've read several recommendations on the Lilja tight bore barrels but thought I'd check around and see what other options might be worth considering. I don't know much about rimfire so recommendations/explanations on what twist to go with would be great. It will be finished at 22" and I shoot Wolf Match Target ammo out of my current trainer, hoping to stick with the same ammo.

Take a look at Rock Creek. I have a couple 22 barrels from them and they shoot great! The one that I have on my quad was originally for a 40x. I'm sure they won't dissapoint.

Lots of guys that I shoot with run 40Xs. We've all had good results from Shilen Match Select barrels.

I am also using a Lilja tight bore on my 40X. Very happy with the results.

Cory, i have a wood 40x stock sitting in my garage that i am not going to put to use anymore. Not in the best of shape but give me a shout if you are interested.

This is sounding like a beast of a 40x... I can't wait to see pics of it and to read up on how it shoots so I hope you plan to post those things in the future when it's all put together

It'll work great - Let your smith slug the bbl to find the best length.
1-16" If it'll be used below 60*
Make sure it is one of the match chambers.

Call Dan Killough of Killough Shooting Sports. He was recommended to me by Shilen. Dan recommended Broughton barrels.

Still haven't done mine. I haven't gotten mad enough at it yet.

Shilen is the way to go. I shoot a couple of them and they really shoot. A plus is i can usally have a 40x rebarreled and back to you in 2 to 3 days

^^^ Obviously you know I'm fairly local to them. I never could figure out why they didn't want to sell me a barrel. They said, "we don't do that anymore, call Dan Killough."

I have 2 it cost 150 to fit it. BTW there from the same run i shot my 100 yard clean with

I have 2 Remington 40x's, 1-Stiller LoneStar, and a Anschutz 54-18 all with Lilja 16 Twist tight bore barrels. I have other rimfire barrels but my go to barrel for a target rifle will allways be Lilja. Guess I have been luck but so far between the four I have and two on guns I have sold not a bad one in the bunch.
