Fuck. I'd have snatched that up and sold the one I have. I have the Litton Mk5. It uses the Class4 laser and is NOT eysafe by a long shot, and is good for +/- 10m @ 10,000m. 7x viewer, no built in night vision.
A guy on here may still have one for sale, a PVS6 MELIOS with the built in 7x viewer and built in 3gen. NV. Also slaves to GPS and gives coordinates for you and the target, as well as elevation and azimuth. It's badass. Range is 10,000 or more, more I think. Wanna say he wanted $4k for it but not sure what he'd take, wasn't a solid price. If interested you can PM me and I can put you touch with him. Originally they cost $30,000 (mine was $10,000 FWIW). I paid $400. So these are GREAT deals if you can find them. A lot went surplus because in 2000, when the Mk5 came out, it was replaced a year later when Northrop Grumman bought 'em out and made the eyesafe MELIOS the next year in 2001 and there are two of those, a bigger bulky version and the smaller slicker one similar to the Mk7. Since then others have come out, the technology was increasing in leaps and bounds so it doesn't surprise me this stuff went up for auction. I've seen PVS15's at auction on govt. auction sites, so I'd expect these to show up too.
So like I told you all, these killer deals come up from time to time, have to be diligent and patient, but they do turn up. When they do, you have to act fast, they seldom stay up for long. Mine was only up for hours and I bought it. So it takes constant checking on Ebay to turn one up. Also beware, some could be stolen and some could be non-functional. Make sure they understand if it doesn't work, you'll be getting the refund. Also make sure to check the SN against CID, NCIS, MP, MPI, FBI, local, county and state. May take a few calls to get someone helpful on one line or another. Be diligent and you'll get someone helpful that'll give you the facts. CIS, NCIS and FBI are the best ones to call.
Good luck, there isn't a better deal on long range LRF's out there. That MK7 would have solved all my problems too, damn. Oh well, I still have the Mk5 and have a way of making it work at night, just not ideal.
If anyone runs across one for sale, PLEASE PM me right away! I'll snatch it up if I can and I'll sell my whole 10,000m LRF and spotting setup w/tripod for a killer price as a finders fee.
