LMT build vs JP build

Rather than creating a new post I figured I would just edit this old one.

Looking to build a Mk12/SPR type of rifle. I have narrowed my build down to two possible routes:

LMT Rifle length Upper with 18"ss barrel -1400
LMT Lower-330
JP LMOS-380
SureFire brake MB556AR-100
ACQUIRED* M110stock- 380

Total build cost less a quality trigger is 24XX.00

JP CTR-02 - 2599
Heatsink upgrade-75
M110 stock- 380
Total cost 30XX.00

What do you guys think?

My only concern is that the CTR-02 has no Dustcover.

You made an excellent choice going w. a rifle length chassis and rock SS barrel. I have run SSA's, KAC 2stage match's, and LMT triggers in my recce and spr builds...all performing well in the role. Recently I switched over to the new Geissele Super Dynamic Enhanced (SD-E) and its really the perfect hard use precision based AR trigger imho. That would be my recommendation.

I just got an LMT upper, I have yet to get it to the range but so for it looks good! Suprisngly light and quick barrel changes...

BTW Where do you get a rock barrel for an LMT?

I've had the CQB MRP upper for a while now also.

Yeah, I also have the cqb mrp mid lenghth 16" chrome lined. It is very handy, I cannot wait to get the barrel warmed up!!

Are you telling me they use rock barrels for the stainless 18"??

I cant be 100% certain but everything I have looked at seems to point to Rock as the manufacturer of the 16 and 18 SS mrp barrels. I'm not saying this is right just what i have read from the research I have done.

Every MRP and MWS barrel is indeed actually made by Mike Rock/Rock Creek Barrels. When you combine a Rock Barrel with LMT's proprietary massive barrel extensive/monolithic chassis, special things are bound to happen in terms of accuracy and precision.

The Rock barrels and their amazing accuracy is one of the many unmatched advantages of the MRP and now MWS systems.

I have a CTR-02 and it is an absolute hammer of a rifle. I've never run into problems as far as not having a dust cover, the only thing that JP recommends that's different is that you squirt some oil down the exaust ports of the bolt every 50 rounds or so when using the LMOS BCG. Just realize that you are limited on your stock selection if you go with the LMOS BCG and buffer assembly.

JP triggers are some of the best single stage triggers around (I'm pretty sure that's how they got started), if you have never fired one, try it and it may sell you on the rifle all by itself.

Ill be using an M110 stock on either build to accommodate the full length buffer system. Also contemplating throwing a JP trigger in the LMT lower.

You are not at all limited on stock selection. Feel free to run any carbine length stock with the JP LMOS. The red buffer with the system is simply a rifle length buffer lightened to 3 oz. I believe it is the regular H carbine buffer that is 3 oz.
