LMT Piston

I've noticed that my LMT piston (as with all other piston ARs) has a pretty hefty recoil. It was bad enough that it continously knocked my trigger pin out of place. I replaced the pins with some KNS anti-walk pins which solved that problem.

Today I tried out an H3 buffer that signifgantly reduced the felt recoil and functioned flawlessly. I fired some 55 grain PMC and 77 grain Black hills. I only fired about 300 rounds, recoil felt good, not at all sluggish and the bolt locked back on every empty mag.

This is also the brake I run (w/QD suppressor threads) and it's extremely effective. You can hammer fire a full mag of 30 & the dot of the Eotech barely quivers. Highly recommend.

Re: LMT Piston

The recoil doesn't really affect my shots or follow up shots. The way I noticed it was in the buttstock. When shooting prone I rest the mag well on the ground (contrary to popular belief this will not induce a malfunction). When shooting like this I could really feel the buffer jaring my face. I put an H3 buffer in and that really made a difference.

This has been my experience both times I shot the new LMT uppers. I wonder if yours if overgassed or something? The thing I took away from both times shooting them was how much less recoil they had compared to their DI counterparts. My old LWRC, by contrast, had far sharper and less pleasant recoil. Not that it was uncontrollable, but the difference was really there.

Really? I don't know if its' because of it's true mid-length system or H2 buffer & spring assembly, but my M6A2-S shoots at least as "soft" - possibly moreso, than my old Bushmaster 16" Shorty (HB Carbine-length gas system) did when shot in succession.
