I have a Gen1 716 DMR & was shooting loads developed for my bolt. The load I was shooting was a 178 Hornady BTHP over 43.0 gr. of Varget. I noticed that there are slight ejector marks on primer - not severe, but definitely there & odd they are not present when shot out of my bolt gun. The primer was flat but no severe overpressure signs. Also, noticed a slight dent & two mark from ejection on the case mouth where the case hit the barrel extension lugs. Not bad but definitely dented.
This load shoots great in my bolt & DMR. I am getting groups less than 1 moa & a lot of that is me (I don't shoot a piston AR 308 as well as a bolt & was using a 1X-6X scope which makes shooting tight groups challenging as well). I will reduce the load to 42.5 gr. & not even bother with load development. Hopefully this will shoot OK. If not will just keep tweaking the load until I get something I like.
Objective for this rifle is a to reliably engage PRS type targets out to 600 yards. My range has targets that range from 2 minutes down to 0.5 at 600 yards.
Been shooting my bolt gun at this range, but time to have some fun w/ the DMR!
