Heads-up:

I was down at Jensen Arms in Loveland CO today and noticed they had some high-end long-range rigs in stock, and I figured someone on SH might appreciate the tip if they were looking for something "now."

* 3x Surgeon Scalpels (308, 260, and 7WSM)
* 2x TRG-22's in .308 (one short, one long bbl), one TRG-42 (.338LM)
* one GAP M40A1 in .308

I do business with those guys fairly regularly. They are seriously GTG, are a class 3 dealer, thier gunsmith is a class 9 FFL, maintain a brick and mortar presence

I have visited this store on a recent trip to CO. One of the best gun stores out there IMO. Good selection of guns (at least the guns I like) and good prices.

Re: Local N.CO shop has Surgeons, TRGs, and GAP

I do not think I could stop fishing to go into a gun shop next to Loveland. That has got to be one of the best brown trout streams in the country. And it doesn't hurt to toss a fly or two in the lake there also. Beautiful country. Tom.

I'm going there next week. Do you know if a face to face sale can occur to an Oregon resident in Colorado for a rifle? Last time I was there I got multiple answers and I've been too lazy to crack a book.

You're fine for long guns.

Re: Local N.CO shop has Surgeons, TRGs, and GAP

I've been eyeballing all of those the last few days and as I recall the prices are as follows:

The Scalpels are $4,700ish save for the 7mm WSM. I think that one was a couple hundred more.

There are two TRG's in .308 a green and a desert tan. The green is the 26" bbl and is $2,600 and change. The desert tan has a Saiko base and is $2,900 and change plus has the 20" barrel. I don't remember on the .338 TRG (I already have a .338 Lapua rifle and wasn't in the market for one) other than it was black.

Edit: Just got back from Jensen Arms again and the 338LM TRG is $3,100.

TBass
You happpen to know what 50s they have there? Been there once, very well stocked shop for sure, and the prices aren't too bad either.

OCHERP -No I don't; however, if you are serious about one, I can zip in & let you know. I live really close & I have to run an errand in the same strip mall that Jenson's resides in.

Re: Local N.CO shop has Surgeons, TRGs, and GAP

OCHERP - nabbed a couple of photos when I went by Jenson's. Come on up and buy one, I will be happy to send some rounds down the tube to help you brake it in

Let's hope that he buckles under peer pressure. I also hope he buys the Barrett because it already has a scope on it.

I wouldnt bet against you on that last.

The woman there always reminds me of Beth from "Dog"

These are the folks I bought my 700 5R, a harris bipod, a few scopes over the years, and they carry a pretty good selection of match ammo (even during the ammo rush after barry took office). They also do a pretty good business in suppressors they helped me through the form 4 for the surefire can I have.

Good folks, although in my opinion some of the work thier gunsmith quoted me felt a little high and I ended up going with another guy closer to home. His custom paint jobs however are FREAKIN awesome.

Re: Local N.CO shop has Surgeons, TRGs, and GAP

As much as I would love to bite the bullet and get one, I'm pretty sure I'd get more of a thumping when I got home than at the range, but always in the market for one if the deal is good enough I guess, lol.

Re: Local N.CO shop has Surgeons, TRGs, and GAP

Thanks Zak and Jason. Anyone in the Fort Collins area know about prairie dog shooting and want to go (if its possible at this time)? I'm there for a week and then back to Oregon for the Oregon Sniper Challenge. Thanks again.

Re: Local N.CO shop has Surgeons, TRGs, and GAP

My buddy has a friend that has some land North of Fort Collins up 287 and apparently they shoot Pdogs from off his back porch. He told me a couple weeks ago we were going to go up for a day and he's got Mondays & Tuesdays off so I'll see if we can go up there tomorrow or Tuesday. I'll PM if we can.

Re: Local N.CO shop has Surgeons, TRGs, and GAP

Prarie dogs can be tough critters to hunt. They have a keen sense of smell and sight. They are also very elusive. Deff need scent away and a guille suit to get withing shooting distance. And good luck getting a tag this year.

Re: Local N.CO shop has Surgeons, TRGs, and GAP

I see. Well last time I was there I think it was not possible to shoot prairie dogs on public land. My son in law knew someone that knew someone who had private land. We were taken there only to find out later that the entire area had been professionally exterminated two weeks earlier. Not too much fun that time.

I'll bring the Pdog gillie and not rule out Wyoming as its so close. Its really worth it since they're so good eatin'....

Plus, Bob is a nice guy who's taken care of me and my friends. I bought my Rem 700 PSP (my last gun purchase, over a year ago <sniff>) from him.

Re: Local N.CO shop has Surgeons, TRGs, and GAP

I was down there recently. They have:

* a couple JP AR-15's. These are premium 3-Gun race guns. Around $2100-2200

* Sako TRG-22, 20" .308, FDE, $2889

* Sako TRG-42, .338LM, one green, one black, $3110

* Surgeon 591 Scalpel 7 WSM $4954

They are motivated to get rid of these so you might be able to get a deal.
