I have a sig R516. Right now I have a bipod and crappy scope on it. I want to make into an all around rifle....( day, night and anywhere from 1 yd to 500yd's.

I was thinking Trijicon ACOG 4X32
With a red dot on top of that??
Then a laser for night time under barrel??

would this be the best all around set up?? Also i live in CA and we arent allowed to have night vision on a rifle. ( can own it though) thanks

Re: Loking for AR b's best set up??

there is not such an animal as the often proclaimed best of both worlds . a red dot mounted on top of an acog is not any faster than just using the acog like its intended . mount a flash light in a quick detach mount and call it a day . use the money you saved from not buying a red dot sight and laser for ammo to train with. In my personal experience when faced with an intense high stress situation the less things that can go wrong the better.

I have issues keeping both eyes open when usinf the acog, really any scope for that matter. I like the sounds of just the ACOG and saving the money.

I guess I can get night vision and just not have it on my rifle at all times. The flashlight thing kinda makes me feel like everyone and there mother can see me lol I guess animals wont care though ...

The reason i want to be able to see at night is because I have to chase cougars away at night as well as bears. i rather not have to light up the whole freakin ranch which is an option though.
thanks for the response man..

You might look in to the Laser Genetics NXD 5 Laser illuminator. Its made for illuminating distant targets with a green laser that acts like a real tight spotlight. I guess its not near as obnoxious as a white light and its supposed to work pretty good.
