Found an ok deal on a used 30-06 rem 700, thinking about purchasing it and eventually making it into a 7mm-08 or 260. Question is, will this feed fine from the standard 30-06 mag box or is there something that needs to be done to make it feed ok.

it should, i know that the army (or was it the marines) used rifles chambered in 7.62x51 with a LA. this was so they could rebarrel them to a LA cartridge in the future at a lower price.
a short action would be ideal, but it would work.

I rebarreled my 30-06 to a 6.5x284. It feeds perfect. Im still using the original 30-06 follower. This is in a kimber 8400.

My Uncle uses an old school Savage that he bought from factory chambered in .22-250 that is based on a long action. I'm sure that if any altering needs to be done that it can be done at a minimal expenses/altering.

I also had a '06 rebarreled to a 6.5x284. It feed flawlessly every time.

It should feed just fine.
But if you ever want to go DBM your stuck with expensive 5 rounders. If set on BDL metal why not go 284 Winchester or the like. Take advantage of the long action. 284 has excellent barrel life and record breaking accuracy.

Will a 7-08 round feed in a 308 mag, maybe I'm retarded for asking. If so you could run the m24 drop in dbm from badger, long action footprint with 308 mags

For the feeding issues, just make sure your rounds are seated to the rear of the internal magazine. If you don't the round tends to hit the front of the mag and get "stuck" or it just won't grab it and you'll have a failure to feed (remember to press check.) If you remember to seat it to the rear you won't have a problem. As far as experience I love it for single round feeding if you choose to do so. A lot easier of course with the longer opening. Would I do it for my own personal rifle? Probably not, I like magazine fed weapons better. But to each their own. My opinion is for my rifles. Some like brunettes & some like blondes.

I believe you could "block" the bolt so that it doesn't go back too far and "block" the rear of the magazine so that it shortens bolt travel distance... much like the Tikkas.
