I spent a week in Georgetown, TX last month and really like the area. I'm thinking of relocating and could use some information on precision tactical and 1,000yd+ shooting nearby. Anyone have any info they can share? Thanks

I have never been to Georgetown, but it is the home of STI international. They make the majority of race pistols used today, or they at least provide frames and parts to pistolsmiths. With that many gunsmiths in the town, there should be someone who could hook you up for rifle. Have a look at some of the pistol forums to possibly make a link. STI INTERNATIONAL
I stopped by STI while I was there. I went in cold and was treated to a VIP tour. "Rabbit" showed me around and I would have bought a 40 S&W Edge on the spot if they had a retail shop.
I was unable to locate any LR Tac matches in the area. Anyone? Anyone? Ferris??? Anyone?
Many of the frames that STI uses are actually made in the Philippines.

As far as long range shooting goes, Best of the West is probably about 45 minutes to an hour west of Georgetown. They offer a range to 1000 yards, but I didn't see any longrange matches posted.

Thanks for the reply. I looked up BOTW web site. Looks like a nice range. They have 3gun, shotgun and IDPA. Didn't see any LR Tactical Rifle matches either. I'll keep looking.
More $s than I'm used to. $100 annual membership and $10 every visit. Over $1000 a year for the two times a week I go to the range. RJN
Best of west and Austin gun club are only two near by. Private land is only other option. As for matchs if you find any I'd like to know as well. Austin gun club I'm told is very $$$$$. Can't say cause I've never been. Range I use and love is Austin rifle club, but nothing close to long range. Good luck and if you move you'll enjoy it
