Planning a long range rifle shoot in Minot North Dakota. Hope to have custom built rifle for grand prize and 100% pay back if I can get enough sponsorship between now and shoot date. Planning on 9/15/2012. Will post more details when I get flyer together. Please comment here if interested. I will post my contact number as it gets closer to the date.

Re: Long Range Rifle shoot

Getting very close to finalizing flyer for this shoot. Just a few items ....
1. $250 entry fee ( open shoot to first 50 paid shooters)
2. Working on some sponsorship to help with custom build from K&K Custom Guns fully outfitted and ready to go. Hopefully this will be Grand prize.
3. 100% pay back above expenses. Will pay out 8 cash places depending on turnout.
4. planning on having cooker on site.
5. 30 plus steel targets, unknown distance. Laser range finders allowed.
6. 1 cold bore shot (100 pts.)
7. limited to 30 cal
8. 9/15/2012 is the scheduled day for the shoot.

Re: Long Range Rifle shoot

All stations, shooters will be shooting prone, so it is what ever you want to carry with you. It is not a run and gun event but there will be some walking between stations. I hope this answers your question..

Re: Long Range Rifle shoot

If you are on the fence about going then maybe this will help. This will be one of the more scenic shoots you will ever go to. I have been to Trestle Valley and its one of those places that should be on a postcard and the weather should be perfect.

Re: Long Range Rifle shoot

Is it possible that a few of the 1100 or so on this post could let me know if this shoot is going to happen or not? Any one who has put these on know how much pre-work there is to puttig it on, not to mention the custom build that is in the works. I have a few verbal entries, but nothing here. Is it the $200, location, date, other matches going on same time? Please give me some feedback as I am having to drive targets up from Oklahoma to ND.

Re: Long Range Rifle shoot

i'd love to go, but it's 1374 miles each way for me and conflicts with the OK PRS match. i've never been to ND though i've flown over it many times. i'd like to shoot up there someday. maybe next year.

misc other feedback:
that's a long way to go for a 1 day match with 31 targets (for you i mean). it feels more like a local match. instead of charging $250 and paying cash back, you might drop the price to $50 or less and put the money into a 1-3rd plaque and a tshirt. you'd prob get more interest.

Re: Long Range Rifle shoot

It sounds like a great venue and I'd consider it if I lived closer. However, here are couple thoughts:

1. A one day match with relatively low target count feels like a club match. My local club has more targets (albeit only out to 700) and costs much less.
2. I understand the payout is the intended draw with such a high entry fee. The rifle is a very nice trophy but seems disproportiate to the COF.
3. Limiting to .30 cal will naturally reduce your entries.
4. The timing is not good. Most matches are announced at least 6-8 months before the match. Also, this is the tail end of the PRS season and most people have already shot long range matches and will be less interested with so many other matches happening in the two months surrounding this one (K&M, PTS, KY/Mammoth, OK PRS, North Tx, PTS Team, GAP Grind). Lastly on timing, it is after school starts too.

Hope that helps. Not trying to be mean but you asked for feedback.

Good luck.

Re: Long Range Rifle shoot

Thanks both of you for your feedback. I really appreciate your honesty. I may have put myself in a pretty good pickle offering to give away a custom build. Since I have flyers posted all over the place up there and I am a man of my word, looks like I will limp through this one the best I can, take notes and try to put another one on in the future. I will try to get more feed back prior to committing to building a custom rifle though. Again I appreciate the feedback.

Re: Long Range Rifle shoot

If I do not have at least 20 entries in the next 2 weeks I am going to have to push to a later date. I will keep every one up to speed as we get a bit closer. Have several Oklahoma boys that will be more than willing to drive all the way up here if I can just get enough shooters in to make it worth their while. I am really surprised that the 1000 yard prairie dog killers arent up fora little match like this one.
