Re: Looking at a 7.62x39...

sotaarms upper is what i am looking at. not sure of the lower yet. I asked a simple qauestion to someone, i didnt really ask for the smart ass answers.

Re: Looking at a 7.62x39...

What weapon system are you referring to?

This is not a caliber known for accuracy or "long" range. I have never seen or heard of an accurate rifle (1/2 moa or better) in that caliber but I have seen some pretty damn lucky shots by insurgents using scoped SKS and the Al-Kadesih sniper rifle.

Re: Looking at a 7.62x39...

I am looking to put together another hog hunting gun. ThAT THE ammmo is not going to break me. I cant seem to make my mind up. only looking to get 150-200 yrds accurate with it.

Well Pork Chop, you're going better. Your english needs a lot of work but now we have something intelligible to work with.

You only get smart ass answers when you ask lame questions. If you had taken your time we would have had:

Initial Intelligent Post:

I'm looking into an AR15 platform compatible with the Sota Arms 7.62x39 upper, for hog hunting, that only needs to be accurate to 200 yards. Is 7.62x39 an appropriate choice and are all the magazines available curved?

Answer:

Your 7.62x39 upper will be more than sufficiently accurate and "flat-shooting" for humane and accurate shots against such game. Yes, 7.62x39 magazines are curved due to the dimensions of the cartridge.

Re: Looking at a 7.62x39...

I would not recommend that caliber for Hog Hunting as standard military loads lack decent terminal ballistics. I would recommend going .300 blackout or whisper.

Agreed, military surplus would be a poor choice.

But there's lots of HP and SP ammo being cranked out cheap from the Russian sources. TulAmmo, Brown Bear, and such...

Yes true indeed, also one can make some pretty mean reloads too, but typical "spam can" ammo I would avoid for hog use.

They are out of their minds in their comparison to an AR15:

http://www.mini14ranch.com/

They claim the AR15 has poor out of box accuracy, which is ridiculous.

They claim that the AR15 is large and bulky - hardly the case.

The AR15 gas tube does not need cleaning as they say.

The Mini14 is not an open-bolt design as they claim.

They imply the aluminum in an AR15 is a liability, when in fact they are extremely long lived - with so many originals from the 1960s showing no significant wear.

Yah, I looked it over and was amazing at the complete garbage those retards have all over that website.

The Mini-14 is a vastly inferior design and everyone else in the industry knows it. It's only true market existed back when brand new AR15's were all twice the price, now you can get a brand new rifle for $4-500, so Mini-14's really have no place anymore.

They're great guns and well-liked, I started 3-gun with one, but they've been usurped by AR's in all regards.

Re: Looking at a 7.62x39...

i think you should get a nice SKS also . take your time and get a good one though. l have a Russian that i over paid for but man its a sex machine. l wouldn't sell it for 2 times what i paid for it. they are reliable and if you want to do the whole tacticool thing you can but i kept mine all pretty red Russian red.

Re: Looking at a 7.62x39...

i have a colt match target in 7.62x39. it has run very well on every thing i put though it. it shoots pretty well with Winchester and a little worse with tula and wolf, and this has a colt 1/12 match barrel. i just bought some lapua 7.62x39 im pretty excited to get this. i love the way my colt shoots. i collect my brass but i dont reload i wonder what kind of options there are for them in an ar platform.
