I have the chance to to a class locally with Todd Van Langen. I don't know who he is and can only find a few things online. Anyone know if it's worth spending $1300 for a 2 day class with him over spending $1400 for a 3 day class with Frank?

The only thing I know about Todd is that he was the match director for the Guardian Long Range team match at GTI in November so I can’t help you there. I am curious about the cost though. Are you factoring in travel etc?

It's hard to get too much training, perhaps do both if it makes sense for you in terms of cost and schedule. FWIW I'm doing Frank's class in just over a month and can't wait!

I took a 2 day class last year with Frank. It was great. I learned a lot. I know I can't afford to do both classes. Not even sure I can afford to do a class at all.

Yeah, I'm just looking to see if anybody knows anything about this guy and if it's worth the extra money. The class I took with Frank I think was $800. Then milage and motels and food and ammo. This one is right in my home town and he will only go to 800 for almost 50% more money.

Depends where you took the two-day class,

The 3 Day Class in CO has a lot of shooting at much farther distances and usually involves some tricky winds to learn with.

We a couple of 2 days in CO, but mostly those are 3 days and I think it's a better class than the 2 Day in terms of student retention and takeaways. The extra day helps.

Back in the day, I used to do mainly 6-day classes at Rifles Only and find that 3 days is about perfect.

Okay

So a Colorado class compared to the one in Minn will have more distance and wind,

Better target package for the most part.

My classroom portion is pretty consistent from location to location, only minor variations for time. But there is a lot of shooting in CO we have a big open range with a ton of targets so when you are not "up" you can still shoot some.

We are actually working on the CO range, MHSA has been doing improvements to the location over the winter and off time.

$1300 for a 2 day class? Does that include lodging, equipment rental, sandwiches, cap out at 4 students max, 12 hour days, a ho-ho or two, etc?

No, minimum 16 people. One night I. A local hotel is included. No meals, equipment or anything provided. It's sponsored by the local pheasants forever chapter. So my guess is the class costs $750 the room is $100 and the balance will be a secret donation.

I wish, it was hard enough to make the Minnesota class work and that was only a 3 hour drive. Although, I do have relatives in Pueblo.

I wish I could. I need to get a better rifle first. And as hard as it was financially for me to make the Minnesota class work when it was only 3 hours away. It's going to take some serious belt tightening to go Al the way to Colorado. I do have relatives by Pueblo. But I'm sure that's nowhere even close to your class.
