Looking at Dillon 650

I'm looking at a Dillon 650. I have limited room about the bench. Can anyone tell me what the height of the press is from bottom to the top of the automatic case feeders? I won't be using a strong mount. Also, approx how far does the case feeder sit back from the front of the bench? I'll post a picture so you can see what I'm talking about.

FYI, this is not for my precision reloading.

You appear to have plenty of room sans strong mount. I would recommend the strong mount though.

Press and case feeder is 35" tall. Strong mount puts it at 43". You would want it on the edge of your bench to allow for fill handle travel. I've got mine mounted on 6x6's to get the height to make it comfortable loading standing up because my bench is built for sitting while loading single stage.

I just got a 650 with case feeder set up in 9mm, I highly recommend buying from Brian Enos, orders over 400 free shipping, I looked long and far and choose the Dillon because once it's set up, it simply works, my first 100 rounds took 1/2 hour, the next 400 took a 1/2 hour, now I load 250 in 20ish minutes pretty regular, get it, and get soon.

Also if you don't use the strong mount, you will probably have to mount it on the bench with the lip on the front. I thing your bench top that doesn't overhang will interfere with press operation. That's with no strong mount. Not a problem if you get the mount.

I would mount it to the front. I just checked. I have 48" overhead from the front lip to the ceiling. That would seem to be plenty of room to be able to reach up and load more cases.

I have also seen someone cut the tub the case feeder is mounted on to get it lower.... I just bolted mine to the bench tonight getting ready to set the dies up and crank out some 45

That's what I did. I had enough space to mount mine, but was within a couple inches of the ceiling. A little hard to get brass in the hopper.

Get a Mr Bullet Feeder (originally KISS bullet feeder) and you can do 100 rnds in 5min on a 650. Have loaded over 50K on a 650 and over 20K w/ bullet feeder. Awesome combo!!

I'll be reloading 223, 9mm, and 30/30. Here is my compiled list. Am I missing anything? I know I have some nice, but not necessary add ons.

Honestly I do not care for the low powder sensor, it's easily visible, why bother? Then again, I don't fool with the powder check either and never have had any issues on the 650 or the Hornady LNL, I've never found them to be necessary as most of the horror stories are related to progressives that do not auto-index like the 550. If you like the peace of mind and don't mind spending the $$$ for it, nothing wrong with that either.

Not sure what environment your press will be exposed to, but I would suggest the cover for the press itself as you've already picked up covers for the quick change kits. Keeping the press clean helps keep it running smoothly and reliably.

Other than that it all looks good, definitely a wise choice to order a separate priming assembly for large, makes changes a breeze. I'd suggest a bottle of Dillon case lube if you want to move to spray lubes. It's simple and it works very well compared to some of the other sprays on the market I've tried.

I'll add to the list. I kind of was on the fence about the low powder sensor. I like the powder check. It gives me a piece of mind. I currently run a powder cop on rifle reloads and the rcbs lock out die on pistol.

I already have the Dillon case lube. My environment is on the top pic. I currently reload on a Lee turret and single stage.

Yeah, I noticed that after I posted, been a couple days since I've seen the thread. Not sure if you have pets, but it seems that hair finds its way into things not closed up.

I have a little yorkie. She sits there when I reload. She doesn't shed though. She's all
about reloading. Runs to the door when mention that I'm going to the reloading store.

You may want the strong mount and the bullet tray holder. They're not in my list because I don't have enough overhead space.
