Hi all,

I have a Savage in .300 Win Mag, that I’m in the process of upgrading. I bought an outlier chassis for it, which takes AR type stocks.

Does anyone have a recommendation as to what stock to put on it?

Right now the rifle is still in the accustock in came in, and I’ve shot a little bit of distance with it as is. And with the brake on it, it’s not a bad rifle to shoot currently.

What I don’t want to do, is put a stock on the new chassis that makes it miserable to shoot, or won’t take being used on a magnum.

Any useful input would be appreciated.

I was considering going with a magpul PRS or lite stock, and putting a recoil pad on it. Not sure if that’s the way I want to go though.

Has anyone tried the stock from Outlier?

Or is there another one I might want to look at?

For a magnum with an AR style buttock I would for sure get the XLR tr2 buttstock. You can adjust the buttpad up so it's more in line with the bore which helps muzzle rise and felt recoil and the buttpad is an Airtech which is very squishy. I had a 30-06 that I was going to rebarrel to 243 bc I was sick of the recoil and wanted my kid to have more fun shooting it . I put it in an outlier chassis with the tr2 before I rebarreled just to see how it shot and was very impressed how much better it felt vs the OEM stock. The tr2 was a big part of it. That would be my first choice.
