I've been looking at getting a rex silentium mg7 suppressor to use on my 9mm and 300bo and possibly 45/70 lever gun. Was wondering if anyone had any experience with this suppressor. Is it hearing safe and things like that.

Well, it is a solid suppressor. There are better, and worse. We are Rex dealers, and enjoy working with the owner. We have never heard a compliant, but I think people also know they are buying into an average suppressor. Then again, everyone does not need the best of the best, or will put more money into glass than world class quiet. When you move to subsonic, it doesn't take a world class suppressor to make it go hush-hush either.

Not many suppressors are true hearing safe unless you are using subsonic rounds. For that mix of guns, I would recommend multiple suppressors. I am not sure if you are looking for a one-size fits all, but there is a big gap from .30 cal to .45 cal and 9mm in the middle. I have seen a number of people use the 9mm size on a .300 BLK, but the MG7 is pretty wide for a standard 9mm pistol. I would not recommend it. It will work well with a sub gun.

If we can help you in your decision, DM me.

A .46 silencer is far from ideal on .30 cal. That level of overbore is too significant.

Some 45 cans can work ok for at ear numbers on 9mm with the muzzle lacking but it's really dependent on design.

"Hearing safe" isn't really a real thing. Damage is dose dependent. For example on semi auto hosts it might be "safe" to subject yourself to a 1-3 mags (depending on the silencer) before you can start damaging your ears.

I would recommend reading through this for a bit.

A bolt action .22 subs suppressed is about the only thing that you could essentially call truly hearing safe. A bolt action 300 blk subs with a long suppressor like a Hyperion, Hydrogen L, etc would be close, you could fire that a lot without risking damage.

Just be careful.
