Sidearms & Scatterguns Looking for IWB holster for P365

Just getting into the concealed carry thing. We live so rurally that normally I’ve got a rifle next to my driver seat and usually have a full size pistol (XDM .40) in open carry as I leave the ranch and go into town, such as it is. Lol. Anyway, the recent church shootings and a decision by our church to form a discreet security team got me to buy a P365 to try; and I’m looking for IWB holster options. I’m pretty sure I’ll be appendix carrying because I’m pretty thin and I don’t think any other position will be as discreet on me. Plus, it’s VERY hot here in S Texas, most of the year, and this will make concealment far more difficult than my friends living further north, in a normal climate. I think I’m going to start hitting the gym to build up my chest to help with concealing an appendix carry. Over time I’m sure I’ll pick up some holsters for different positions to test out; but I bought this small pistol specifically with the idea of appendix carry in mind.

I’ve been looking at the Tier 1 Axis Elite and the Aegis Elite. They seem to be popular but I didn’t know if that’s more a function of the name’s popularity among the weekend “operator” crowd or the actual fit and function of the holster? I do like the idea that they can be split into 2 parts so I COULD play around with placing the gun (by itself) at 3 or 4 o’clock, to see how that works for me. But, I’m open to anything at this point - confirmation that this is a good one to start with OR just about any brand.

If it was an OWB, I would say that I love Galco holsters. Personally, I have just enough of a "love handle" that an IWB drives me nuts. I would have to go with something like an Urban Carry G3 for an IWB. Otherwise, have you checked out all of these IWBs?

see if tulster makes one for your gun. i have a tulster aiwb, with the clip, for my glock 43x and that combination is great. i don't want to say 'comfortable,' but i've worn it a lot, including cross country trips, and half the time i forget it's even there. and with the clip (vs loops etc), super easy to take off and on as needed or wanted.

now my aiwb is with an untucked t-shirt or sweatshirt. if i was all dressed up and wearing a suit and a tucked in shirt, i'd prob go owb at 3-4:00 or so with the suit jacket covering it. if you're wearing it under a tucked shirt, and especially with a jacket over that, make sure you practice drawing because it's harder and slower with 1 or 2 layers over it.

the other day i was practicing some draws and shoved a few mags in my sweatshirt's kangaroo pouch. those REALLY hindered my aiwb draw, so i won't be putting anything there when carrying. practice exactly how you will be actually carrying.

Tulster makes holsters for the 365 (I'm carrying on right now) and as someone who always aiwb carries this gun in a tulster with a good belt (I run an rdr gear edc belt) I can forget it's even there, and I am a mechanic so I'm constantly bending and twisting all different ways.

Milt Sparks VM2... Make sure you have a good gun belt, and I like the mag carriers if for nothing but to balance weight.

I use a G-Code INCOG holster for a Glock 43. Mine's got the Mag Caddy so I've got an extra mag right there in the mix. I'm not sure if that's really worth it or not. Anyway, I think they're really great IWB holsters when you're standing up... When you're sitting down, well, you've got a pistol jammed into you jewels so...

If I were in the market again & were just going to carry the pistol, G-Code's new Phenom Stealth looks very compelling to me.

+1 I carry a shield every day in a comtac Minotaur about the same concept. It’s like wearing nothing at all. But as a new ccw guy, you will probably feel uncomfortable at first with anything you pick, it’s not the holster it’s the 2 extra pounds of pant accessories lol. For my way to and from work I’ve started putting my wallet, keys, smokes, extra mag etc in my laptop bag to offset it. Btw I work 12-15hr shift and sit a bunch (I know between sitting and smoking, I’m gonna die early) and that holster since it’s height adjustable is absolutely perfect. Also the belt is the most important part in my opinion, but once cry once. I personally don’t like the ones with kydex in them because my actually pulls double duty with keeping my pants up. I wear a tucker and Byrd belt I have a black and a brown in 1.5” they’re moderately priced and just look like any other nice belt you’d buy at a department store, except 2-3x as thick. My black one is 9 years old (before the Byrd merger) and still looks newish, I wear it 90% of the time. My only beef is I wish he made it in ox blood color

Believe it or not, the holster on the Sig website for the P365 is excellent. Made by Blackpoint Tactical, it’s very low profile and has a removable wedge for appendix carry.

That’s the “wedge” I was referring to above. It applies force against the belt to turn the gun inward, so the grip doesn’t stick out as much. It’s helpful for appendix carry, not so much for 3 o’clock, which is why it’s nice if it’s removable.

Have you ever used it say at 4-5 o’clock? If it does push the gun in more that might solve a problem I have with my Glock 19

I haven’t but it may work. You’d have to try. I think at 3 o’clock there is a little bit more compression since that’s where the weight is resting, so it ends up being less comfortable and effective.

Actually, what you're referring to (I think) is what is called a "wing." Are you talking about a plastic piece that's sticking out the side of the holster below where the butt of the pistol will be and in line (horizontally) with the belt clips? If so, that's called a "wing" or a "claw" and it forces that end of the holster in, towards the body, when your belt is tightened; thus, also, forcing the but of your gun in towards your body. The butt of the gun is the most likely thing to "print" and getting it to hug your body has always been a problem. "wedges" are usually soft, add-on pieces (usually foam or gel and some people DIY using heel cushions meant for shoes) that you place near the bottom of your holster. This will force the bottom of the holster away from your body at the bottom while, naturally, forcing the top (where you gun's butt and rear end of the slide reside) towards your body, making fr better concealment. I'm new to all this but I've been doing a LOT of research! Lol!

I've tried many IWB holsters and I've found the Mission First Tactical Minimalist IWB to work the best for me. They are comfortable and true to their name of being a minimal profile. You have to remove it to re-holster but I think that's good practice for most IWB anyway. Best thing is you can't beat the price.

Anybody still carrying this same holster and setup 15 years later? Almost all CC guys have a box of unused holsters. Wastes of money that seemed good at the time or were just mediocre. I have a few until I figured out that to get a good holster you have to go to a good holster maker. Milt Sparks is the best for the money and on par with the best like Alessi, del Fatti in terms of function and general quality, maybe less fancy. A real deal daily carry working man's holster.

Seriously, can't beat good leather for IWB and Milt Sparks is the best quality for the money by far. I don't have pictures of the G27 I carry and it's a lot smaller but here's one for a Smith 1006 below. Despite it being long, it conceals very well due to it being fairly thin. Long barrels aren't hard to conceal with these and double stack pistols aren't but thicker ones like say the Glock 29 (which I have the same rig for too) are a less easy than a thinner one despite being a compact pistol and despite this holster having the loops to either side (this holster is the original of this style BTW). The 1006 conceals well but it's heavy. Doesn't matter what holster you get, some pistols just conceal and wear better and thinner and lighter ones do best IME.

G29 and 1006 both conceal well and I have these holsters for a reason, but comfort plays a BIG role in daily carry, especially if you plan on carrying it all day long. The VM2 is VERY comfortable. Not familiar with the pistol you have but if it's anything along the width of a Glock 9mm/.40 and not too heavy then it should conceal well and be comfortable for daily carry. You can pull off these bigger ones but like I said, just not as comfortable or as easy with 4lbs. pulling down your pants or a brick on your hip.

These aren't off the shelf holsters either, each one is hand made so you can specify color, material, cant, whether it rides high or sits low, all up to you. And they have other models but this is kinda the flagship and they make it for most models whereas they typically cater to the 1911 crowd. Seriously, this rig can't be beat. it's why I own 3 and if I ever get another pistol I plan on carrying, I'll get another one of these unless they make something specific I like better, but count on it being quality leather regardless. Make sure to order at the right time, they used to have a year wait period until they started taking orders only on the first few days of the month. Still expect a bit of a wait though, but totally worth it.

You can spend more on Alessi, etc., but it's not necessary, especially for a ~500 carry pistol. And you can reholster one hand with this one no problem, it has a metal reinforced mouth that doesn't close. There are clips available for tucking shirts and also different size loops for any belt. Single, double and mag/light IWB pouches. Great gun belts. Comfortable against your body for all day wear, conceals very well, made to last forever, sweatproof and waterproof, handmade to order, just absolutely zero complaints and it's the number one goto holster for a lot of guys for these reasons. Just make sure you get a good gun belt, a real gun belt. Galco at minimum, preferably the Milt Sparks belt or a custom double thick 1.5 maybe, but they make nice looking gun belts that go with slacks too. Be sure to get the correct loops for the belt, all this belt stuff is very important for proper daily carry.

You wanted to know a good carry rig, this is it and probably one of the best actually.

I have a Talon for my P-365, S&W Shield & my J frame model 36. The Talon is the best IWB holster that I have found. They are reasonably priced and have good customer service. They have a web page. I like Wright Brothers Leather for OWB holsters.

I'm still wearing a Bladetech deep tuck I bought in '07. Added a wing to it at some point, and replaced the rubber spacers once, but it still works great for me. Never was a fan of leather in the Florida heat.

I agree with your reasoning for carrying AIWB. It’s a great way to carry. But I’d urge you to reconsider that method since you’re new to concealed carry and your weapon of choice is striker-fired with no manual safety. I have been carrying AIWB for years, but do so with something that allows me to ride the hammer when I holster. This allows for an extra layer of protection given the general direction in which the muzzle is pointed.

If you stick with your plan.... JM Custom Kydex, Dark Star Gear, or Keepers Concealment are the premier makers of fit-for-purpose AIWB holsters. Any one else is basically just doing it wrong or copying the concepts these original guys created

Crossbreed holster at 4-5 o’clock with a sig p938, so very similar size to the 365 5’9” 155lbs and it conceals just fine and is extremely comfortable. Most of the time I forget it’s even there. Best thing you can do is get a really sturdy leather belt designed for CC. A thick belt makes a world of difference.

I have wore this holster everyday for 6 years getting up and down ladders, crawling under things, driving long distance, general hard work, and it has never bothered me.

only thing you have to be careful about is sitting down on scratchable surfaces. The metal belt hooks aren’t very forgiving to soft scratchable surfaces.

I've been using the Vedder Lighttuck IWB with claw for my P365.
This is the third or fourth Vedder I've purchased for various handguns.
Comfortable at the 4:00 position. Even in the car. Can wear all day. Forget I have it on. Claw eliminates printing.
Reasonably priced. Usually ships within a couple days.

Wright Leather Works, LLC makes an excellent IWB holster and a pocket carry for the Sig P-365. Look at their web site. Also, Talon holsters out of Tallahassee, Florida makes IWB and pocket holster for the Sig P-365. I use both. I prefer leather over kydex.

My Sig P-365 has a manual safety. By the way, Sig now offers a manual safety kit to add a safety to P-365's without a safety. The kit costs around $50. and can be purchases from some supplier and also Sig parts.

I have the Lima Green Laser on my P365... the same Black Point Holster is available for the laser-equipped P365. They are comfortable and relatively inexpensive....My Crossbreed that purchased for the same pistol sits unused.

So not only does he get a “holster” that is cheap, one that doesn’t cover the trigger, the MAIN JOB of the holster, but he uses it on a Glock with a trigger safety


I’m not seeing how any of this says anything bad about a QUALITY leather holster made for the CORRECT weapon.
