Rifle Scopes Looking for Leupold M2 advice

guys,
I'm looking at the Leupie MR/T 2.5-8x36 with M2 turrets.
I've phoned Leupold who told me that this model does not have any zero stop on the elevation turret, nor does it have any indication of which revolution the elevation turret is at.
But the rep didn't seem to be too sure.

It would be easy to loose track of which revolution the turret is on, which seems crazy to me - can someone who has this scope confirm if it has a zero stop or not?

What would give you the impression that a leupold has zero stop?

Without a zero stop you would not know which revolution the turret is on. There must be some way of keeping track of this, surely?

The M1 turret has revolution 'markers' and the M3 has the zero stop.

it comes both ways, the non zero stop is really not well thought out, and takes a lot of diligence from the shooter not to get lost

Since those are the full size M2 knobs (not the shorty M2s like they use on some tactical scopes), you could just order a zero stop knob if you really want one.

On a .308 you can get 800 yards out of a little under a single knob revolution. If you're shooting 800 or less, it's pretty easy to know which way gets you back to zero.

Maybe I'm missing something here but its my understanding that the zero stop on the leupold is simply a pin on the underside of the knob. On M3 knob w zero stop, you only have revolution on travel with the stop. The M2 knobs are drilled onthe underside so you could add a stop with the right size pin. However, I don't see how you could get more than one revolution on travel with this setup. Fine on a one moa per click M3 but not ok with the M2 knobs.
On my M2 I have it set on a 20 moa base so that I don't have a full travel down to the next zero. So if I ever get lost I just turn it all the way down and then up to zero. I don't know if you could do this with a flat base but you might be able to know your scope and know that your zero is all the way down and then up to the 2nd '0'. It would just be hard to do in the dark.

I plan on buying the same optic. I've also read that the M2s have pins on the underside of the knob.

There is a pin that comes down off the turret and there is a tap that is on the scope. The down stop also works as an up stop. I really like these scopes and they are very compact.

Mine has a zero stop, but I think I have M3 turrets. They are 1/2 MOA clicks. I took the zero stop out, anyway.

M3 turrets are 1 moa, the windage turret is 1/2 moa

They also have 2 types of M2 turrets normal profile, and low profile.
