Rifle Scopes Looking for pmii 3-20x50 for my sr25

Hello every one, I'm new to this forum, but I have been reading for some time now especially on the s&b pmii 3-20x50 . I want to get that scope for my knights sr25 ecr. I also want to put the spuhr mount on the pmii , but don't know which one to use to get the most out of the optic (I think 1k yards is about the limit of the 308). The pmii I would like to get is the h59 with the dot in the center.
So I have some questions that I haven't found any answers to and I hope I can get them here.

First- is the s&b pmii 3-20x50 water proof and what dept is it up to?

Second- is the ral8000 color worth the extra cash,( I think I read somewhere that's its anti nv? ) I like this color.

Third- is it really only a 2year warranty? ( not a big deal but what happens when the warranty is up and life happens )

Finally - what spuhr mount is the one I can use for the scope to be used for 1k yards shooting but still good for close up 100 yards (most of my shooting distance).

Ok ,I see theres like 50 or so new post every day in this forum. So I took the leap and ordered the pmii 3-20x50 with the h59 in black, will get it Friday or Monday (i was told). Thanks to Euro Optic and Erick for the help and great customer service . I will post up pics when I get it .

Still would be nice if I could get at least one of the questions answered (any of them).

I think the scope is waterproof to 25 meters.

And the mount needs to be equal to half the elevation range the 3-20 has 26mils so a 13mil incline mount.

That's 2 out of 4 anyway

You didn't search much. Many more posts than 50/day and many posts concerning the 2yr S&B warranty on tactical scopes, but longer on hunting scopes. One Hide contributor works for S&B here in the US and handles repairs and warranty issues and could give you warranty info, but I don't remember his name. Good luck with your new scope. Should be well suited for your purpose.

You do not need a 40 plus moa (13mil) base for a 3-20 on a 308. Hell, you could probably use a flat base. In addition you have a horus reticle which limits the need for an angled base.

Also, where did you find that 25 meter number?

Scout thank you for your reply , if I do get the 13mil base, can I use it with no ill effect on the rifle set up? I ask because if I would like to put it on a 338lapua or 50bmg later on I won't have to buy another 400 dollar mount , saving some coin.

As far as I know, RAL8000 is only on the 5-25x model.

You purchased a great scope and hopefully you won't ever have to use the warranty. Most shooters with 338, 375 or 50 BMG choose 2-25X mag scopes, but really depends on your eyes and what you're shooting. I find most hunters rarely shoot game past 750 yds. Just be happy with the great scope you purchased and follow the advice from the knowledgable people here on the Hide and get started shooting. 308 is a great starting caliber, but ammo a little scarce now. I have used SMK 175 grain with good success at 500-800 yds, but gets more difficult out to 1000 and beyond due to ballistics. If you decide later you need more magnification like my old eyes, S&Bs hold their value well and you can sell it easily here on the Hide after you have reached 100 posts and fund a new scope to match your needs. Good Shooting. Practice, practice, practice makes all the difference.

Thanks for the advice Sib , I'm super excited about the scope . It's going to live its life on my sr25 , but I will put it on my friends 338 and 50 just to try it out , but then it's going to be back home on the 308. Yea I know the 308 rounds are MIA but hopefully everything will go back to normal sooner or later.

None of 3-20 or 3-27 reticles I have seen work at 3x- so if you are looking for a scope you could actually use close distances with semi-auto, forget it.

I'll be danged, you're right! I was told about a year ago they weren't going to offer the 3-20x in RAL8000 in the US. Sure enough, they have them. I'm yet to see one personally.

Yes he replied to my pm , great guy. He tells me the civilian pmii s are water proof to ten meters for military it has to be double that , and there about 25 meters. Good info for sure.

Yea when I saw the scope I freaked out , it was more than I was anticipating , worth every penny IMO. I just need to get the scope mount and I'm ready for the rang. I will take some better pictures next time.

Help on which spuhr mount



Do I get a cantilever or a regular one , I'm thinking its a 1.46" height ?

I went with the 5-25X and used the Spuhr 20MOA mount. The directions call for cant close to half the potential of the scope. I thought about my rifle being .308 and feel certain I wont need the extra cant so I didnt get the steeper mount. I spent about 8 mils getting a 100 yard zero.

You should have even more clearance. I bought my Spuhr from Mile High they were great in ensuring I got the right equipment.

Like the KAC offset BUIS. I have had a set on backorder since January. Im getting them for the LMT. Ill put the top rail KAC BUIS from the MWS onto a CQB that is awaiting a USO 1-8X which will be in a ADM QD mount.

Thanks pmclaine, your rifle looks great by the way. I sent an email to mile high about the mounts and they told me to get the sp4616 I think it's like yours but its a cantilever

Also pmclaine , with your zero , when you crank the nobs up in mils when does it stop , what mil? I'm thinking loosing 8 mils your going to be at 18 mils? I'm new to this thanks

Cantilever will allow you more adjustment fore and aft of your base to set eye relief. It will allow you to get the scope beyond the handrail/upper receiver gap without having to bridge the two disimilar surfaces. You will get no consistency if your base is partially on the upper and partially on the hand rail. The LMT is monolithic so I went with a standard base. Sounds like you got the right base.

Your scope actually has more mils than advertised. I dont totally understand the German magic that makes that happen (apparently they havent figured how to do it with Euros). I have not checked my total rotation yet - havent had need to - Ive only shot at 100/200/300 so far.

Yea this scope is really nice , I was thinking about getting the ral8000 color but no parts of the rifle has the desert color so I just chose to save the money and put it toward something else ( hopefully a rmr for the spuhr)

If I helped you are welcome. I am know expert I just went with what kept popping up with great reviews than opened the wallet and sucked everything out of it and then some.

The color has done nothing to enhance the accuracy but it looks cool and now women are a little nicer when they tell me to go screw myself. If my wife ever finds out what it cost I will be screwing myself.
