Rifle Scopes Looking for something similar to the Leupold Mk4 3.5-10 LR/T..

but much cheaper ...for a Remington 700 .308

Basically, I'm building my own long range rifle to practice on my own time as we don't get much range time these days due to budget cuts.

The reason why I'm looking for something similar but substantially less costly is because I want to practice with similar equipment to what I'm using at work (m110). I did a bit of looking around on my own but I'm still new to this and asking for help seemed to be most logical at this point.

I don't know about spending your own money to match the Leupold. You should probably read a whole bunch and spend some time looking/learning then buy what you want and can afford. The skills you learn on any scope for the most part are transferable so that should not be a sticking point. The only two areas I could see some difference are if your Leupold scope is SFP and Mil Reticle with MOA adjustments. Most of the better scopes out there today have matching turrets and reticles.

If you think it could be a problem stick with what you know. Look for a previously loved leupold. I have had good luck with their CS and would not hesitate to buy a heavily used scope. If its broke send it in to be fixed then get back to shooting.

If you want to match the optic you use, get a used 3.5-10 with the same turrets. The M2 can be had for under $1k if you watch the WTS section.

If you want to go WAY cheaper, you could look at the Weaver 2.5-10x44 Kaspa. Its Mildot / moa turrets and only $200. To match your work rifle with mil-dot/moa, exposed turrets, it'd be about the cheapest option. If you are wanting a nice scope to keep for awhile, most of the ones most people are liking nowadays are mil/mil (or moa/moa). I'm new to tactical shooting and I'm glad i chose mil/mil to start off with. If you stepped up to the $800 mark, I'd say a sightron SIII or Bushnell Elite in mil-dot/moa.

I agree, that would be a way better option, maybe the best option under $500 out there. But, it is mil/mil. Its a bummer his rifle scope config at work is mil/moa, as it the whole idea to practice with the same setup, doing the math correction and conversion for moa->mil. Talk em into putting a SS 3-9 on there and enjoy the times we live in when reticles actually match turrets!!!

no one mentioned it but do you have access to promotive.com? maybe that would bring the price down for the mk4. maybe take a look at the mark 4 4.5-14x40mm with the target turrents which is a few hundred less than the 3.5-10.
also if you are mil or leo leupold has special pricing. maybe take a look at there mark 2 or mark ar line.
