I got an 18.5" .308 in the works and haven't decided on a bullet. I'm thinking either 155 scenars or 168 berger hybrids. not sure. Goal is to stay supersonic as long as possible. However, from time to time i might use heavy bullets to try some subsonic stuff.

gonna have to plug and play with #'s in a ballistic calculator but it's gonna be hard to match realistic velocities as you'd need barrel length.

an 18.5" 308 expect 1000 yards to be your max limit.

that being said 168's are out; bullet design does weird things at transonic ranges.

155 scenars, 175 SMK, 178 HPBT's are best bang for the buck

*168 with sub optimal transonic shooting is the Hornady 168's

I played with several in my 308, and ended up with the 168 hybrids. For me, it was the best compromise between BC, weight, accuracy, .... I don't shoot a 308 much, but used these in a 308 only match. And the 168 problem is only with the Sierra SMK's, not all 168s. It has to do with the boattail design on that bullet.
