Looking for opinions, team. Help me out and donate your $.02:

If given the choice, would you purchase a 'Comm Spec' 24 SNR WP or a 30 SNR Green?

Let's say all other factors the same- same price, all L3 filmless, no blems, same specs for Res, EBI, Halo, PCR, etc.

Although I haven’t yet had the opportunity to look through a WP unit, I have heard that sometimes people will prefer either the green or WP based upon their personal eye comfort level with the hue of the image itself. In other words, I’ve heard some people say that they love the WP image and believe there are some tangible benefits to it and others have said that the WP image seems to cause eye strain or other discomfort when using it for long periods of time which has nothing to do with specs at all.

I know this might not directly answer your question but thought you should be aware that some are reporting high favoritism for one or the other, even when comparing two tubes of similar spec. I have a very nice “green” tube and have decided to stick with it rather than trade out for a WP. In fact, these days my NV is used solely for navigation to and from hunting spots where I then transition to thermal. Perhaps one day when/if I decide it’s time for another PVS-14 unit I will chase down the opportunity to check out a WP unit.

@JohnInTampa Absolutely, man. Theres definitely a 'quality of tube' factor that varies eye-to-eye and personal preference related to whether green or white is your flavor. I phrased it as a request for opinion because theres an ass for every seat- especially with our eyes and pricey optics.

Generally though, I dont think it's a wild statement to say that given equal specs, votes would be seriously weighted toward favoring WP. Price-wise, they tend to even out when you drop the specs on the WP so for those purchasing that's a more common back and forth, especially with all the com spec 1601 tubes that seem to be out there.

All other things being equal as you have stated the higher SNL is a BIG plus IMO. I can tell you for my eyes as has been mentioned the L3 WP tubes are white and bright! We really dont get along well together and I would neven consider them if I had a device that didnt have manual gain control. Now this is more than likely a personal eye issue but as stated many are in the same boat as me. I did just order a new device and did opt for Harris WP tubes after having the chance to look through them. The Harris WP has a hue to them, maybe a tad bit blue/greenish which my eyes didnt mind or resist at all.

Im questioning the whole WP thing honestly and wondering if its just the so-called new hot shit fad. We all know why green was choose to begin with and that it has worked extremely well for a long time. I also like having the color difference in urban lighting areas so I can differ natural and white light.
