I run thermal for hunting and have a PVS-14 for driving and stalking. But when I take guests I need something to get them down the logging trails and close enough to the swamp feeders without spooking the hogs when they get there before us. The way the feeders are set up relative to the trails we have pretty good cover to stalk up to 40-50 yards out. Due to trees this is about how close we have to get to shoot too. I have a couple of lower vis red led headlamps but they still put off a forward beam which could be seen from further out. In the fields it is not a big deal to follow close to me with no light as I can pivot my red led helmet light towards the ground to help guide, but in the woods it is not possible and even dangerous with all the roots, vines, ruts and such, not to mention all the noise created while stepping through the dead-fall. Streamlight has a "Buckmaster" stylus type green light that looks promising, but I think I'd prefer red for even less light signature. If anyone uses it or any other brand product for similar purpose with success please let me know.
