Lower Receiver for an SBR

I just picked up a 10.3” upper and now I’m looking for a lower. I am in between getting an aero full lower for like 300, or piecing a nicer one together for a total cost of a tad over 500. Any good/bad experiences with the aero lowers? Is getting an ambi lower worth it on a sbr?

Are you a lefty shooter? If not, I don’t really care for ambi lowers. It’s rare I shoot left side, so the added expense for ambi controls isn’t worth it.

I used stripped Anderson lowers on my SBR’s with no issues.

Do whatever you feel most comfortable doing and it’ll work out

ADM, BCM, Aero, White label armory, basically any of them.

They all can be great or have issues. I have seen some Aeros offset to one side with a thick and thin wall, seen various uppers line up better or worse, really... you have to rate each one in hand then match to an upper for fit and finish.

Aero has a nice finish and the screw to take the slop out for very little money which is nice.

I used a BCM for my SBR. If I do another it will be an LMT MARS-L.

You can get a JP lower with their excellent single stage trigger installed for $300.

Sionics is another quality option. Their “gutless” lower receiver option for $160 is a good deal.

Pretty much any lower will work but make sure you have the SBR stamp in hand before you put the upper on the lower

I'm of the opinion that if your going to spend $200 to ask the government for permission to put together an AR that has a shorter than 16" barrel and a shouldered buttstock, you might as well spend the money on a quality receiver as well. This is why I'm in the process of sbr'ing my QC10 lower instead of a joe bob 9mm lower.

If you have another AR in your stash, you can SBR form 1 that lower.

If I were to SBR a new lower, I'd buy one with ambi. controls. Just a personal thing.

I've got Noveskes to Andersons. I would say it depends on what you want. If you just want a basic lower and don't care about the roll mark, get a basic lower and make sure it's in spec. If you want a certain roll mark or extra ($$$) features, get one of those.

I have a plain Jane spikes lower and on of the snipers hide lowers sbr'd. Going forward if I'm going to spend the money on the stamp it's going to be LMT Mars or some other flavor of ambi.
