Recently acquired a 16" proof CF 223 wylde barreled odin works upper with Odin works ragna rail. Very light weight upper and I am considering picking up my first lpvo to put on top of this set up. Primary purpose is shooting steel from 25-600 yards/secondary defensive carbine after my 10.5 SBR. May want to push it further than 600 for shits and giggles with 77gr SMK but main purpose is under 600. Secondary purpose would be occasional deer and pig hunting as a backup rifle or loaner for friends.

I have a 12 year old 4x acog I am thinking of using but also wanted to explore the LPVO world (prefer FFP and the ability to dial would be nice though not essential). Budget is around $600 and I am eligible for mil discounts.

I am currently considering the following LPVOs: ATIBAL X 1-10 FFP, Primary Army 1-8 Raptor ACSS. Anyone have experience with either of these? Anything else I should consider ? Thank you!

I would search for sales or demos at swfa, europtic etc and get the best glass for your budget. I'd rather have a sfp 1-6 with good glass and eyebox than a lesser grade 1-10.

There is certainly something to this. i own a swfa 3x9 mildot and it is an excellent optic. Currently on my 308. For this upper was hoping to get something with a bit more features in the reticle.

I know it’s “old tech” but depending what you’re doing, Leupold mk6 1-6 or a vx6hd. I have a vx6hd and it’s very very lightweight, the fire dot is absolutely daylight bright, the battery last forever because it’s motion activated, only the reticle sucks but that’s leupold for you but I just dial at long range and hold for wind. The Steiners are also a great option.

What region of the Country are you in?

Are you surrounded by urban environment for miles, or on the edge of rural or open areas?

Desert, deciduous forrest, swamps, lakes....?

That totally changes my input for you.
I am in NC. Live in an Urban area but have access to range where I can shoot out to and past 1000.

Anyone have actual hands on experience with the Atibal X 1-10? I know it is made in China and I get that is less than ideal. But does anyone have experience running one?

I don't own one but the one I played with had offset. It worked fine and seemed like with practice it would be fast up close. More to the point the acog glass was very nice. I think if you own that your not going to be happy with a Chinese 1-10.

Best part i noticed immediately was how compact and lightweight it was. The guy that owned it ran it like a sewing machine with dot or acog and it was impressive what the set up was capable of in experienced hands.

There are a bunch of cheap red dots out there now so you don't have to jump in with both feet on a rmr. I'd get a quality mount (arisaka was popular when I was looking into it) and a cheap dot and see what you think.

Another option is to to have the acog/dot as your practical set up and get a bigger scope for the range. I got 3-15s and bipod for both of my rifles that have 1-6s. The big scopes are for screwing around and 1-6s get 90% of my practice ammo. I was surprised how useful the 1-6s are off a bipod. Ringing steel at 400-500yds is easy and I'd assume an acog would be similar.
