I recently ordered a now 20" barrel for my .308 build. I ordered a bull profile and recieved a "heavy" I do not have the exact measurements right now but it appears to be .936 up to the gas block, the gas and rest of the barrel .750. my question is was this a fortunate accident? It seems alot lighter than a full bull but still seems to have good surface area for cooling. I also want to mention that the portion in front of the gas block is fluted. Thought?

Re: LR308 Barrel profile

Although I think mine may have been the exception, mine came with a bull barrel and it wouldn't shoot worth a damn with anything. 2-3 MOA at 100 no matter what ammo was used. I replaced the barrel with a Kreiger 18" and now it shoots fine.

Re: LR308 Barrel profile

I had a 24" bull from DPMS and it was just to long and heavy for me that is why I am replaceing it. The new barrel is from Black Hole. I have been very pleased with their barrels..... this is my 3rd one.

Re: LR308 Barrel profile

Here is a group I shot with an Black Hole 18" standard weight barrel last month. This was shot with about 10-12 rds thru the barrel at 100 yrds with 175gr SMK.

Re: LR308 Barrel profile

I still have the stock 24"stainless barrel that came on my LR-308. It did not start to shine until 250 - 300 rnds I am covering a 3 shot groups with a dime using 168 gr. FGMM
